I have over 200 features in serial chart and use the slider to show just the top 50 or so ranked routes. When I select a top ranked route to see the associated map feature location, the slider defaults back all the way to the right making the user have to again slide to the left to see the top 50. I believe before the slider did not default back to the original location, so it was easy to march through the top ranked locations and see them on the associated map, along with other performance information. Please advise. Thank you.
My org uses a Serial Chart which represents 12 years of data. We have not found a way to only show more recent data (1 or 2 years) by default when the Serial Chart is first opened. Having this functionality would be very useful, it would be a nice enhancement.
Hi @ThomasEdinger can you share more about your Dashboard configuration for the Serial Chart Widget and Map Widget with their actions? If possible an Esri Support case could be beneficial to investigate a potential change in behavior. https://support.esri.com/en-us/contact
If this is a common workflow it could also be valuable to configure a selector for your data that you could toggle as a filter.
Hi Support, thanks for getting back. I attach 3 slides, the 1st is on launch, the 2nd is moving the slider to view the top ranked 27 or so, and the 3rd is where the slider goes after I select the top ranked bar location (farthest to left). I believe before the slider offset did not change when I selected the first bar. It is inconvenient to go back to the reset the slider. I'm not sure what you mean by configuring a selector for to toggle as a filter.
Thank you,
-tom
See link to dashboard. I just have the action set in the Series Chart to the listbox to select the route. I then select to get other performance information.

Hi @ThomasEdinger thanks for reporting this, I was able to reproduce and confirm that this behavior was different previously. It is currently under review as BUG-000174843: Following the February 2025 release ArcGIS Dashboards with Serial Charts revert back to the full zoom and scroll scope when a category is selected in the chart.
As for a selector, you can add different types of selectors to headers or side panels in your Dashboards and use that selector to filter data out in other widgets like your map and serial chart. https://doc.arcgis.com/en/dashboards/latest/create-and-share/selectors.htm
Hi Stephanie,
I'm glad you were able to duplicate and indicate as a bug. I would think the slider was introduced to solve issues like that are happening now. The slider provides the flexibility to contain many features but focus on just a subset; maybe the highest or lowest rank (in my case). and you want to navigate through those features one by one to show their location and associated attribute data which is updated in gauges or other elements. I like the Dashboard; keep up the great work. Thank you.
I just wanted to follow up on this Serial Chart Slider issue. When will this fix be updated? The April release? Thank you, -tom
Hi,
Jesse Cloutier followed up with me on the status of bug "BUG-000174843' which indicates that "The issue has been reviewed by the development team. It has not been prioritized into a release plan and will be monitored to determine its overall impact. Factors that are considered in the prioritization process include the number of users affected or requesting the functionality, business impact, whether a workaround exists, among others."
I'm surprised no other are asking to resolve this issue. My dashboard application looks at top congested locations (about 400 corridor features), so the slider is used to help locate the top ones (or bars), but when one is selected the slider reverts back to viewing all the bars. As a result the slider needs to again be positioned to look at the top bars. I then select another top location, and the slider again reverts back to viewing all the bars. Again, I need to move the slider to view the next top bar. I do not think this is user friendly, and the solution would be to keep the slider where it is until you click on the "zoom out" button. I do not see any advantages to reverting the slider back to the original position to view all the bars each time you select a bar, but maybe I'm missing something here. Thank you.
