Trying to embed jpg files shared from a Google Drive and get a blank screen.

You have to use a direct image URL, which is NOT the URL that you get when you copy the 'Share' link on a file in Google Drive. Here are instructions on how to make the right link:

This worked great for me when I tried it real quick in StoryMaps - didn't work with the 'Share' URL, worked fine with the direct image URL. But if that doesn't work, you could always upload the image you want to Flickr or a similar service, which is what I usually do anyways.
