Of course, just after posting a question about the value fields that the widgets can use, my operations dashboard decided to cooperated with me and I was able to get the bar chart wizard to graph a count based on certain text attributes.
The only problem that I am experiencing now is that the number displayed in the preview does not match the number displayed on the actual chart when you hit okay. I've included a screenshot.
