Currently, if a numeric field has a coded domain, it cannot be used as input to certain widgets that rely on numeric fields, like gauge or bar chart. This is unfortunate since coded domains are a primary method of ensuring integrity in the geodatabase. In this case, following good design standards for the database prevents full functionality in Operations Dashboard, and that just doesn't seem like a good thing.

I would like to see, if possible, a modification that gives the option of using either the code or the description in widgets.

i think an argument could be made for establishing thresholds or indicators that are driven by ordinal or nominal data values as well.  Perhaps that is some other sort of indicator widget however.

Nicholas/Christopher,

With the upcoming release of Operations Dashboard, elements like the serial chart, gauges, indicators will now support both long and short integer fields with coded value domains. Where relevant we will display the domain description as well.

This updated Dashboard will release with the December update to ArcGIS Online and as a separate installer to ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.

Reflecting comments from @JeffShaner , better support for coded value domains was added as part of the move from the Windows-based Operations Dashboard product to the pure web product that is known as ArcGIS Dashboards today.
