I just read the Q/A  thread about Collector. This was from Feb. of 2015. I am particularly interested in the progress esri has made towards the ability to snap in collector, since the release of that thread two years ago. I ask, because this will be a big step forward for us, using collector as our main field collection method.

Thank you so much Kylie for reaching out to me!

I really appreciate this.

We are very much looking forward to the planned enhancements for the collector app! Is there a rough timeline on when you think those enhancements will be available?

Very Respectfully,

Shannon Stern

I am surprised to hear that the snapping functionality would actually be apart of the backlog. I work for a gas utility company in Ohio and we're currently building our enterprise system to utilize the collector app. The biggest flaw for the collector app is the inability to allow field workers to snap features for mainlines and components out in the field. The snapping functionality would be a great asset especially when using the ESRI Utility and Pipeline Data Model by Tom Dewitte.

I completely agree with you Jordan. This thread is been going on for almost three years now. and all ESRI can say is that it is being considered. Typical response from esri on anything. esri always talks about how they pride themselves on implementing "user requested functionally" If you haven't already go to this link and vote it up.

Our organization would see Collector as a solution to several projects we wish to undertake, but without snapping, it isn't even a consideration.  We are very disappointed the functionality doesn't exist.

Hi

Snapping is a must-have feature for utilities companies.

People need snapping to make field records match existing assets in their database.
