Looking to purchase an ipad to use with Collector for ArcGIS...I know we want to get as much storage as possible but I haven't been able to find any guides on how much.
The ipad mini's have 256 gb and cost aprox. $200 more than the ipad with 128 gb. Will the 128 gb storage be enough?
For reference, I would need to download map tile/s that cover 4000 sq km area
That depends on what your cache level goes to. You are talking 1 million acres here so anything past L:14 (1:36,000) would be huge. You would want to at least make a TPK to side load. May have to make several to break it up.
Also, for reference, a colleague did a test run on their cell phone and downloaded basemap imagery of aprox. 1/2 the size mentioned above and it used 1.5 gbs of space on the phone
