Can I use an ArcGIS Online map in Collector if I don't have a feature service in it?

Please bring back the old, useful ArcGIS forums and remove the useless GeoNET.
Right now you need to have an editable feature service in the map for it to show up in Collector. You can use Explorer for ArcGIS to view maps with a non-editable layer.
