Hi guys,

I just installed CityEngine trial. The problem is that when I open CityEngine, it opens for 1-3 seconds and then closes. Then a dialog window appears saying:"An error has occurred, please see the log file."

Now I didn't know exactly what to see in the log file because there are too many words in it. So I attached the log file.

Hope someone can solve my problem 🙂

Thanks.

Hi,

My CityEngine crashed without any error message popup. However, I did find the hs_err file I attached here for your reference.

BTW, I've tried delete .CityEngine folder, uninstall and reinstall, and the problem remain the same.

Please help.

Hi Helen,

Can you try the following :

- Delete the folder C:\Users\<name>\AppData\LocalLow\Sun
- Then try starting again

Let me know..

Hello

Collada .dae files that contain a light point seem to cause CityEngine to exit without warning.

This happens whether I'm using the insert command or just clicking on the file in the Navigator window.

I'm using CE 2011.2 - is there a list of bug fixes somewhere?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the same error returned.

Since the error message "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" return, wondering if this might related to our environment. Our department uses a "white list" to control the kind of applications allowed to run. I've requested to allow cityEngine.exe and Java to run through. There might be some other programs which also need to add in to the white list that I don't know.

Could you please shed some light on this direction?

thanks!

Hi Ben,

Can you post the asset or PM me your mail address ( so I can get the asset ). I'll then test it in 2012 for you, ok ?

There's been many fixes in 2012 which may not be in the change log.

Let me know.

Hi Helen,

Here's the answer from the developer :

Let me know if this helps.

Dear Helen,
Cityengine comes with its own version of Java. Try adding java.exe from Cityengine/jre/bin to that whitelist.
Then, depending on what mechanism your department uses, you might have to add all the dlls in the Cityengine/plugins/<xxx> directories as well.
Your administrator should know more about that though.

Cheers

Hi, Matthias,

We tried the developer suggested solution, and even added the whole "??C:\Program Files\Esri\CityEngine? into the white list. The problem remains.

Is there a debugging mode to capture which DLL caused the error?

Thanks
