Hi

Esri  CityEngine 2019.0.5403 Windows 10

Top right of the CityEngine UI shows I am connected to the ArcGIS database. Starting a project by clicking on the 'Create a city from map data' opens a new project, yet under top menu: file there is no Get Map Data option. I have successfully signed in to ArcGIS online and signed in with the Esri application. Here are the results of a connection test:

When I open the new project with the 'Create a city from map data' option, the Get Map Data dialogue opens automatically. Are you saying there is no Get Map Data button at all or its just greyed out?

Hi Andrew

Thanks for the reply.

When opening CityEngine I get the choice to create a new project and am presented with 3 possibilities. When I click create city from map I then get the CityEngine scene wizard which asks me to choose a file name, destination and choose the coordinate system (doesn't matter what I choose here). Click finish and I get a viewport grid. If I look under file there is no get map data option.

Hey Chris

Any chance you could send a screenshot of what you are seeing when you click on "File"?

That would help to try and put this into context.

Thanks so much! Taisha

Hi Taisha

After startup I get the options to choose the project but CE is offline and I cant connect before I complete the first dialogs. First create city from maps then:

Then if I go to the menu:

Connecting to ArcGIS at this point doesn't help.

Thanks for your reply.

Starting a new project while CityEngine is open only gives me the Zurich example map (which is super detailed btw). I cant seem to choose a location. What I need to demonstrate to my clients is local data from Holland, for example a city like Arnhem. Is this possible with the trail version? I really hope so.

Hey again Chris!

Thanks heaps for the screenshots. It's definitely strange behaviour that we have not seen before. Can you please let me know what happens if you cancel the welcome screen and then click on "File"? Is Get Map Data visible then? And to answer your question above, you can definitely access data for Arnhem with the trial version. Let's just get you up and running. 🙂

If you also cant access Get Map Data the using the way I just asked you, then please could you also send me an export of your log file so that we can look into it (Window --> Log --> Then click on the first icon in the log file to export it).

Thanks again

Taisha

Hi Taisha

Dismissing the startup menu and then going to file doesnt display 'Get Maps' in the menu.

I finally got the download trial link to work again. CityEngine, reinstalled. Went through the registration process and now ArcGIS is working perfectly!

Thanks so much for your guidance and support.

Hi Chris

Ok great! That would have been my next suggestion. I guess somehow something went wrong with the install.

I am glad everything is working for you now!

Cheers

Taisha
