Unable to get appropriate fields for selected layer

I have Business Analyst 10.3.1 and I'm trying to append data to a trade area using the Online data.   When I try to get to the screen to select my variables I get the error above that says unable to get appropriate fields for selected layer.  Before I called support, I wanted to see if anyone knows the cause of this error.

I called support and the fix was to connect to https://www.arcgis.com in your ArcGIS Administrator.  It was caused because we use HTTPS only in ArcGIS only.
