Hi,

Using AppStudio is it possible to create functionality within an app whereby a user can select an area of interest and just download the data within that area for offline use?  In particular, is it possible for them to select an area of basemap and have that available offline (in an identical way to how Collector operates)?

I've seen various posts/information about how to download existing mmpks into offline apps, but our field workers (that potentially number into the 100s) cover the entire country and it's not feasible to create a mmpk for each potential area they might survey.

I don't necessarily need to know how to do it, just if it's possible.

Thanks in advance.

Colin,

This workflow is called, taking a map offline on-demand, and this is supported using ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Qt, here's the documentation on how to do that, Take a map offline - on-demand—ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Qt | ArcGIS for Developers

This app, Park Trails App from Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, is the example of using the on-demand offline workflow, A Trailblazing App.

We have just added a slightly different workflow in our Map Viewer template as part of our 4.2 release, which is called the pre-planned workflow, where you pre-planned the offline map areas ahead of time in ArcGIS Online or Enterprise, then you can download and use them in Map Viewer template. What’s New in AppStudio for ArcGIS 4.2 (February 2020)

Thank you,

Erwin
