Pro Python API Layout ExportToPDF Dynamic Text Issue

Hi All,
I am working with automatically exporting Pro Layouts to PDF using the Python API exportToPDF method.  I have a dynamic text element on the layout for 'Export Date' but when I use the API nothing is populated.  It works fine if I just manually export from Pro however.  Has anyone seen this and/or is there a possible work-around?

Partly user error - using 'Current Date' dynamic text works fine....
