JS 4.4 and search config

My programming skills are basic and I've run into an obstacle.  I've created a relatively simple map using the JS 4.4 samples and a public web map, Fall For Greenville.  Popups are configured in the web map and working fine but I'm having issues with the search.  The search widget works fine but defaults to the first suggestions.  Per the documentation, I can turn this off with autoSelect: false but I don't know where to take it after that.

I can't find anything about the search-complete event handler that makes sense to me.  Anyone have a sample or a resource spelling it out?
