I am working on a project now that could potentially need to have a large number of map layers added. Not all layers will be visible at the same time and will turn on/off based on different user selections.
My question is, is there a limit on the number of layers that can be added to a map? Does the number of layers added affect performance?
I remember seeing a post where a user ran into the maximum number of layers (around 20 or so) that could be added to a map, but I haven't been able to find the thread.
Also, if you are pulling data from multiple large datasets, it could take a while (ranging a few seconds to a minute) to see them. Users may not know what is going on and are confused because nothing is happening.
