Hi everyone, I run through the same problems as Chapy ...
Tutorials may be found here and there (adobe obviously) but it's sometimes very difficult for a self-taught person to achieve his firsts codings without extra help of daily developpers. Sewing together pieces of code from several origins may lead to surprising results 😉
On the contrary, I understand well that it may be boring or time consuming for skilled peoples to answer really basic questions but if you don't learn fishing to somebody, he will never be able to fish on it's own and will repeatedly ask for food ...
As an example, I'm simply wondering how to retrieve a specific layer in a map service to query it in a widget and return a symbol on top of the map service (very basic local geolocator). As I'm totally newbie thus not so skilled as most of you (and /or dumber maybe ... 🙂 ) I don't figure out wich classes are involved, etc ...
I've spend some times on looking inside the code of existing widgets but the clue didn't spring out clearly until now, nor I didn't find an answer on another flex related site. What a newbie need is something like "to retrieve value from a feature layer's field use the retrieveValueFromASpecificLayer class (e.g.) as data provider". Maybe it's not the best way to code it but it gives a starting point allowing the widget to work, even not perfectly, showing some results and wheting the appetite for learning better practices.
Anyway, thanks a lot for any help it's always welcome and really appreciated.
Have a nice day folks !
Pierre.
