Difference in Viewwe and API?

Can anyone explain the difference between ArcGIS API for Flex and ArcGIS Viewer for Flex? There are two different forums and I am starting to get confused about which is which and what they both do and where I need to be posting and looking for help? I have downloaded the uncompiled 2.1 flexviewer....does that mean I am using ArcGIS Viewer for Flex?

yep, ArcGIS Viewer for Flex means the flexviewer. ArcGIS API for Flex is for those who have questions about interacting with the API and not using flexviewer.
