Layer3D to Feature Not Working Correctly!

GIS is not cooperating and is giving me problems converting a 3D geodatabase feature class to a MultiPatch using the Layer3D to Feature tools in 3D Analyst.  When I originally tried this, to tool failed because I tried to use a 3D shapefile.  However, I found a youtube video and the young lady was using the a geodatabase polygon feature class and she was able to convert it to a multipatch within the same geodatabase.

I then imported all of the 3D shapefiles into a geodatabase and have verified that the geometry type is 3Dz and I have a geographic coordinate system setup.  However, every time I load a feature class into the "input feature layer" dialog box, I get a red circle/X and an error code of 000668 - Not a Feature Layer.  However, these are all geodatabase 3D polygon feature classes.

I am completely stumped as I tried this a few days ago and was able to use one of the scripts in my model builder to convert an many 3D feature classes polygons datasets into Multipatches.  And there are only a few settings and I have not tried anything different or out of the ordinary.

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

SOOOO apparently I can use the Layer 3D to Feature Class when I load my 3D feature classes into a 3D Scene session first.  And then I can convert them using the batch tool.  However, when I was loading data into the tool directly from ArcToolBox, it didn't work??? Make it make sense ESRI. The features were valid 3D polygon feature classes within a Geodatabase.  ESRI, seem like this is a bug, please fix it.
