There is probably a really simple answer to this questions, but I cannot find the LAS Dataset Toolbar. I have a 3D Analyst license. Do I need to download an extension?

Thanks!

As far as I know, LAS Dataset toolbar is available since version 10.1
Generally you can enable toolbar by right-clicking on some enabled toolbar and selecting desired one.

Also be advised, depending on your license level, what you can do with the LAS dataset can be different.  If you have 10.1, then you should have access to the LAS Dataset Toolbar. If you have a previous version, then you will not.

Hi All,

I am using Desktop (Advanced) 10.1 and I am attempting to use the LAS Toolbar, however, It only works with my 3D Analyst extension turned on... I though this toolbar would be available to those with anyone with a standard license level and up?   (as per the training video and other docs on the ESRI website)  Any reason it would not be available?

PS... i do have a LAS dataset loaded, and zoomed to 100%, toolbar is still inactive.  also... works fine with the 3D analyst extension on.

Thanks!

Have you taken a look at the document that I attached? It clearly states that to activate the LAS Toolbar it requires the 3d Analyst Extension.  Without it you can see see the data and use it for different calculations and in a mosaic dataset, however to utilize the toolbar you will need the 3d Analyst Extension. Please take a look at the document again.

Jeff, thanks.

I did look at the document, but apparently missed the text in the chart for the toolbar itself.  It seems odd that ESRI wouldn't enable the symbology functions for the LAS Dataset toolbar without a 3D analyst extension, when the same functionality is available in the symbology properties menu.  I understand not allowing the 3D or Profile view, but seems like the simple displays options would be available.
