I have imported textured dae models created using reality capture and mesh lab. The resulting multipatch feature class looks great, but I can not get the right axes down. I've tried dozens of combinations. I've rotated the model around all three axes and the best I can get is an upside down multipatch. 3D editing tools only rotate around the Z axis. Is there a way to rotate around the X or Y?

No, that tool only rotates the model around the Z axis.
