Thanks Xander, you are a lifesaver. The code works perfectly. Tried finding your email ID from your page, but couldn't. Is it possible for me to get your work email ID please, if possible. Regards

Hi Xander, Thanks for providing the code and it was very helpful. While the code you have provided works till 2014, there seems to be some error while applying for the year 2015 onwards. It might be due to some extra information in the ASCII file for 2015-17. Is it possible for you to guide me a bit on that please. Data can be found here under the name "Terrestrial Precipitation: 1900-2017 Gridded Monthly Time Series (V 5.01) in the following link: Matsuura Data V 5.01 Regards

Hi Robert, Yes, it worked. Took a long time for the buffer to be created, but it's fine now. Regards

Hi all, I am working on this maritime boundary shape file for India, which extends 200 nautical miles ( 1 nm = 1.15 miles) from the land boundary. On some areas, the maritime boundary will be shorter as well. What I would like to do is, instead of 200 nm extension, I would like to create a new boundary for the maritime area, that is 68 kms from the land boundary. For the areas that is already shorter than this 68 kms, I would like to keep the already existing area. I have attached a copy of the shape file for maritime boundary along with India's land boundary with this post for your kind verification please. Area in the red is the maritime boundary and the area in yellow is the land. Regards

Hi Neil, I fixed the issue. Before, I have split the existing shape file into different polygons, while 'projecting' a different coordinate system but there was a problem which I outlined earlier. So instead, I tried creating a new shape file altogether today and this time it seemed to work properly. Regards

Hi all, I am trying to split the maritime boundary of India (also called as Exclusive Economic Zone, EEZ) into different polygons based on the boundary of Indian districts. In the word file 'Conversion' attached with this post, Figure 1 contains EEZ of India and in Figure 2, I have converted the entire maritime area into different polygons, based on the border of Indian districts. Before conversion, I tried calculating the amount of chlorophyll-a content in the Indian EEZ and the sum comes to 60,000 (approximately) for a given year. Once I converted the EEZ into different polygons, I tried calculating the chlorophyll-a content for each of these polygon, and once I sum the chl-a for all maritime district polygons as in figure 2, the total comes only to 2000. There was a notification while doing the raster analysis that the raster file and the shape file are in different datum, when I was using the shape file as in figure 2. Then, I fixed the coordinate system so both the raster and shape files (as in figure 2) have the same projection system. I don't get the error notification anymore, but the total values of chl-a are still different, as before changing the projection system. Moreover, once I converted the EEZ into different polygons, there are around 41 districts. When I do the raster analysis, there are only 35 districts in the output table, but the six missing districts should not create a huge difference. Any suggestions to fix this issue will be helpful. Regards

Hi, I have two feature classes - a firm level, point shape file and a district level, polygon shape file. Have around 12000 firms and 15 districts. I would like to find the following two things: Question 1. Find the firms that are within 10km from the border of a district. Question 2. Find the Euclidean distance of each firm. When I tried to perform both these operations using some information from the past posts and some Youtube instruction videos, have encountered few issues and I am listing them below: Issues for Question 1: I tried using "Near Tool", by selecting the Firm level, Point shape file as the Input feature and District level shape file as the Near Feature by using 10 km as the radius, but arcmap is providing me with negative (-1) district IDs which cannot be possible. Issues for Question 2: I am unable to select two feature classes when I select the Euclidean distance tool, therefore can't use this tool at all. Any instructions would be helpful. Thanks.
