Thanks for replying Dan. I do not want to have to convert the .dbf table to a file geodatabase table, which is what copy rows or table to table does. If the .dbf table has already been added to the map manually, listTables will return it in the list. I did try your suggestion of the Describe function to look at the table properties. However, that made me realize my script is failing when I use the Table function of arcpy.ma, not the addTable method of the map. So I am not able to use the Table function of arcpy.ma to create a table object from the string holding the table data source as it outlines in the help ( Table—ArcPy | ArcGIS Desktop ). Perhaps the string that represents the data source of the .dbf table needs to be in a different format - I have encountered issues with coverages and ArcGIS Pro, maybe there are issues with dbf tables associated with shapefiles too.

ArcGIS Pro 2.2 Python 3.6 I am trying to add a .dbf table from disk to an existing map in an ArcGIS Pro project. The addTable method of the Map class works with a file geodatabase table, but does not work with a .dbf table. I created a simple map and script tool to test this, and a python script tool with a single input parameter of type "Table" Here is the python script: #script tool for testing addTable theTable = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(0) theProject = arcpy.mp.ArcGISProject("CURRENT") arcpy.AddMessage(theTable) theMap = theProject.listMaps()[0] #now add table to map - use table function of mp to create a table object # then use addTable method of map to add the table theSumTab = arcpy.mp.Table(theTable) theMap.addTable(theSumTab) When I test this script tool by navigating to a file geodatabase table everything works: When I test this script tool by navigating to a .dbf table it fails: Do I need to do something differently in order for this to work with a .dbf table? Or does addTable just not have that functionality. It doesn't specify that in the help: http://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/arcpy/mapping/map-class.htm Thanks for any input. Sheila Churchill

ArcMap had linear referencing (dynamic segmentation in ArcWorkstation) which could create and overlay point and line event tables along routes. ArcGIS Pro also has the linear referencing toolbox, but no explanation in help or tutorials. But in Pro there is also a location referencing toolbox, which seem similar but is linked to Pipline Referencing (new to Pro) and seems to need additional licensing. Can anyone explain the differences between the two, and point me to any documentation or tutorials (besides just the tool references)? As well, is pipeline referencing designed as a way to work with utilities in a file geodatabase, as opposed to the new Utilities extension which needs an enterprise geodatabase? Sheila Churchill

Melita, thank you for your reply. I had assumed that the NTv2 file was installed as it showed up in the drop down list in the Create Custom Geographic Transformation tool ( see attached image from original message). However, when I checked the directory you gave me, there was nothing there, so I copied the files from my ArcMap 10.4 install directory and tried again but it still didn't work. Can you tell me where I can get the ArcGIS Coordinate Systems Data Setup for Pro 2.1? Note - I can create and access this custom transformation if I do it in ArcMap 10.4 or 10.5, just can't get it working with Pro. With ArcMap I did have to download and copy the ntv2 file to the correct directory. Sheila

ArcGIS Pro 2.1, Local install, Windows 10 I am trying to create a custom geographic transformation and then use it in the Project tool. I have used the create custom geographic transformation tool to create it - runs successfully. I went to the folder were the .gtf files are saved and I can see it there. When I use the Project tool and press the drop down arrow under Geographic Transformations I can see a lot of transformations but not the one I created. Anyone have any ideas why my custom transformation does not show up in the Project tool? Thanks Sheila Churchill

Finally figured it out! We are working in a virtual environment, and it was the new version of Citrix Receiver that was causing the problem, not the ArcMap 10.5. So when we switched back to Citrix Receiver Ver. 4.7 , ArcMap 10.5 Python Addin ComboBox worked again! The version of Citrix Receiver that caused the problem was Ver. 4.10.

ArcMap Ver. 10.5, Python Ver. 2.7 Python Add-in ComboBox no longer working. In versions 10.3 and 10.4 of ArcMap I created multiple Python Add-ins, from the tutorial in the Help to my own custom Add-ins. I am trying to run the Add-ins I have created in previous versions using ArcMap 10.5 and ArcMap the GUI. In all of my Add-ins (which worked perfectly in 10.3 and 10.4) Tools and Buttons work fine, but when I attempt to use the ComboBox, ArcMap crashes and I get the error report window. When I start ArcMap again, the Add-in is still installed, but when I attempt to use the ComboBox again, nothing happens, and no errors appear in the Python window. This also happens in the Add-in example given in the Help Documentation (Creating a Python Add-In Combo Box—Help | ArcGIS Desktop ). I also created a brand new Add-in following instructions in the Help, and it crashes when I use the combobox as well. I cannot find this as a reported bug - has anyone else encountered this problem?
