Managed to resolve my issue by referencing the 3.5 version--I realize that this is not officially released but it did the trick for me. Thanks,

I am also experiencing this issue. It works fine in 3.3 but when targeting the 3.4 version of the API it crashes the legend when attempting to load any map services with annotations. I am also running 10.1 SP1. Do you guys think you will have a work around for this or will you wait until 3.5 to resolve the issue? Thanks,

I already shared this with Ken, but I thought that it might be helpful for the forum. Personally, I think any search mechanism should use Auto Complete if possible. Here is a simple example: XAML: <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="White" > <sdk:AutoCompleteBox Height="28" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="10,10,0,0" Name="AutoCompleteBox1" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="120"/> </Grid> Code Behind: Private Results As FeatureSet Public ACList As New List(Of String) 'Page loaded event or an event that fires the loading of the data Private Sub Page_Loaded(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles Me.Loaded LoadData() End Sub Private Sub LoadData() Dim queryTask As New QueryTask("http://mcesapp/ArcGIS/rest/services/EditRelTbl/FeatureServer/1") 'These are examples from a previous post Dim query As New ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Tasks.Query() query.Where = "1=1" query.OutFields.Add("*") ' You may just want to return the field to be used in the Auto Complete box queryTask.ExecuteAsync(query) AddHandler queryTask.ExecuteCompleted, AddressOf QueryTask_ExecuteCompleted AddHandler queryTask.Failed, AddressOf QueryTask_Failed End Sub Private Sub QueryTask_ExecuteCompleted(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal args As ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Tasks.QueryEventArgs) Results = args.FeatureSet ACList.Clear() Dim ACValue As String For Each Feature As Graphic In Results ACValue = Feature.Attributes.Item("AC Field Name").ToString() ACList.Add(ACValue) Next AutoCompleteBox1.ItemsSource = ACList End Sub Thats it!

Ken, You may want to use a Feature Data Form to add new records, or create a child window that will appear when you click a button. If you choose to use the ESRI Feature Data Form, you would need to bind your Feature Data Service, much the same as you did with the Feature Data Grid. Essentially, all you will be doing after you establish your binding to your Feature Data Service will be adding a graphic or item to your collection. If you choose to do a child window you can use the text boxes to enter the attributes into your new record. Thanks,

Ken: I think you may be looking to do something like this (in VB): Private Sub LoadFeatureLayer() Dim l as ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.FeatureLayer l = New ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.FeatureLayer l.Url = <URL to Feature Service> AddHandler l.Initialized, AddressOf layerInit End Sub Private Sub layerInit(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal args As EventArgs) If (sender.GetType Is GetType(FeatureLayer)) Then Dim Lay As FeatureLayer = CType(sender, FeatureLayer) Lay.Update() End If End Sub Thanks,

Does anyone have a better method of adding a halo effect to text instead of using the following style: <!-- Halo text symbol. --> <esri:TextSymbol x:Key="Halo_TextSym" OffsetX="-23" OffsetY="18"> <esri:TextSymbol.ControlTemplate> <ControlTemplate> <Border Margin="{Binding Attributes[OffsetX]}" Width="300"> <Grid> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Attributes[Text]}" FontSize="13" FontWeight="Bold" Foreground="White"> <TextBlock.Effect> <DropShadowEffect Color="White" ShadowDepth="2" Direction="300" BlurRadius="7" /> </TextBlock.Effect> </TextBlock> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Attributes[Text]}" FontSize="13" FontWeight="Bold"> <TextBlock.Effect> <DropShadowEffect Color="Yellow" ShadowDepth="0" BlurRadius="2" /> </TextBlock.Effect> </TextBlock> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Attributes[Text]}" FontSize="13" FontWeight="Bold"> <TextBlock.Effect> <DropShadowEffect Color="White" ShadowDepth="2" Direction="60" BlurRadius="7" /> </TextBlock.Effect> </TextBlock> </Grid> </Border> </ControlTemplate> </esri:TextSymbol.ControlTemplate> </esri:TextSymbol >

After reviewing the demo site of the 3.0 version of the Silverlight API it does not appear that there is the ability to pass graphics back to the server when using the new printing functionality. I am not sure how far along the development of this version of the API is but it would be great if you guys could figure this out. Thanks,

Are you adding this field as a hyperlink button to your list or grid? After you have defined your class or itemsource for the data container you would bind your control like so: <HyperlinkButton Content="GO" NavigateUri="{Binding [GEOSCANREC]}" TargetName="_blank" /> Thanks,

Have you tried?: GEOSCANREC"] = "<a href=\"http://geopub.nrcan.gc.ca/html/view_e.php?id=" + g.Attributes["GEOSCANREC"] + "\" Target=_Blank>GO</a>"; We handle our links by modifying the class, but I think this should also work. You may want to also add some error handling to notify the user if they have their pop-up blocker turned on. Thanks,

I would like to know if there is a more elegant way of finding the attribute field types when using a QueryTask. The problem we are having is that if the feature layer is dynamic, we do not know the field types within the layer on the server--we basically have to return all 500 records with a query such as SELECT * From Dataset Where OBJECTID > 0. Is there a method where we can SELECT Top 1 from dataset, or something similar? Thanks,

When using a templated version of the legend control, is there a way to add the wait indicator when loading the legend? I like the way the wait indicator functions on the basic legend control and I would like to apply the same functionality to the templated control. Thanks,

I'm using a template and it doesn't fit on all my endusers screens. Is there a way to add scrollbars for the entire application? Thanks Christine I would not recommend adding scrollbars to the whole application due to the fact that you will loose some of the mouse/click functionality on the map control (such as panning). Have you considered changing your UI design to use collapsable portions of your template or maybe using the something like the ribbon control? The Ribbon control allows users to place their tools into a menu placed at the top portion of the UI--much the same as MS Word or Excel. Thanks,
