I can't seem to get the resource proxy working with unfederated (built in security) ArcGIS Server 10.5.1. I used to do this all the time back in the day but can't get it working with the latest stuff. I can't get the resource proxy to return a token to access secured services. Error: Token obtained: Exception in generating tokenFailed to generate a token for the user.Client ID is required for long expiration tokens. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Andy, one problem is that the map service in that Web Map may not really exist or be something that you can hit from your machine. Can you hit this URL? http://MyServer:6080/arcgis/rest/services/USA/ConterminousUSA/MapServer Dave

I am publishing a ArcPy Mapping script to Server that modifies the legend style for layers in a map document. I have this working great in ArcMap using a custom .style file but when I publish to Server the instructions say I have to convert my custom .style file to a .ServerStyle file. I have found some very old instructions (9.x) that say to use a utility (MakeServerStyleSet.exe) to convert the .style to a .ServerStyle. I can't find this utility anywhere in 10.3.1 or 10.4.1. How do I do this?

Hi, I have a Python GP script that is published to ArcGIS Server, from Catalog. It runs about 2/3 of the time without fail but 1/3 of the time it totally crashes either ArcGIS Catalog or the ArcGIS Server instance. The script is a fairly simple arcpy.mapping report and it does make use of the Pyodbc library for some of the report values. There is no apparent pattern to when it crashes and when it doesn't. There is no warning when it crashes and it creates a crash dump but I can't read those to see if there are any clues. Thanks

I figured out how to upgrade Pip and that fixed the issue. Start the Command Prompt as Administrator and do the following: Microsoft Windows [Version 6.3.9600] (c) 2013 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:\Windows\system32>cd \ C:\>cd C:\Python27\ArcGISx6410.4 C:\Python27\ArcGISx6410.4>python -m pip install -U pip You are using pip version 7.0.1, however version 8.1.2 is available. You should consider upgrading via the 'pip install --upgrade pip' command. Collecting pip Using cached pip-8.1.2-py2.py3-none-any.whl Installing collected packages: pip Found existing installation: pip 7.0.1 Uninstalling pip-7.0.1: Successfully uninstalled pip-7.0.1 Successfully installed pip-8.1.2 Now pip is working to install packages.

Hi, I am trying to install a python package (PyFPDF) in the ArcGIS Server 10.4.1 Python instance 2.7.10. It looks to me like PIP is already a part of this instance as the executable is in the /Scripts folder. When I try to do anything with it though I always get this error. C:\Python27\ArcGISx6410.4\Scripts>pip Fatal error in launcher: Unable to create process using '"C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.4 \python.exe" "C:\Python27\ArcGISx6410.4\Scripts\pip.exe" ' Anyone know how to fix this?

I'm using the Geoprocessor.getResultImageLayer() method on a site that is using the Resource Proxy for this URL. The GP Task uses the Proxy.ashx for the submitJob and checking the status of the job but when it calls getResultImageLayer to get the result it does not use the Proxy.ashx. For this reason I am unable to use a secured service. Any ideas?

I'm using 10.3.1 and tried essentially the same thing as seen in your code. For some reason the path will not change from drive letter to UNC in the MXD. Both paths are valid and point to the same FGDB so I'm wondering if that is the problem. Like I say if I write the Layer object out to a layer file then the layer file has the UNC path in it. I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature. Thanks

Ok, so if I do replace the datasource of the layer in the MXD and then write the layer out to a layer file then the datasource is updated in the layer file but not in the MXD. Then I can load the layer file into the MXD and the datasource is update for that layer. That's silly but it works.

I have a Map Document with a bunch of raster layers referenced by drive letter and need to change them to UNC paths. I've tried all the methods with the Map Document and by Layer to change the paths. The methods work for Feature Layers but not for the Raster Layers. If I add the layers manually to the map document they get added with the UNC path, then I can symbolize, rename and save. That is lame though! Is this still a bug? https://community.esri.com/message/205282#comment-205282 tried: mxd.findAndReplaceWorkspacePaths() mxd.replaceWorkspaces() lay.replaceDataSource() lay.findAndReplaceWorkspacePath()

Jeff, thanks. Good to know. We had figured out that we could edit the URL for the app in Portal.

We have portal setup at a URL similar to the following "http://<portal url>/arcgis/home" through a reverse proxy. The WebContextURL parameter is set to "https:\\<portal url>/arcgis". Almost everything is working as it should. The only problem we are having now is when we try to create a an App using a template. The app creates fine but the resulting registered url is wrong. The URL ends up being something like this "http://<portal url>/app/..." which returns a 404 when you try to go to it. If you change it to this "http://<portal url>/arcgis/app/..." then the app loads. Why isn't it doing this from the get go? Can I change this behavior some where? I haven't found a spot to change this. Thanks

I figured it out. Point the proxy to the Portal token page and give it the user and password with permission to use the service. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <ProxyConfig allowedReferers="*" mustMatch="false"> <serverUrls> <serverUrl url="https://yourdomain.com/arcgis/" username="youruser" password="yourpass" tokenServiceUri="https://yourdomain.com/portal/sharing/generateToken" matchAll="true"> </serverUrl> </serverUrls> </ProxyConfig>

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to setup my Javascript API proxy.config "serverUrl" so it works with secured services on our Portal federated ArcGIS Server. I have not found any documentation that seems useful in this regard. Our Portal is using default portal authentication and the ArcGIS Server is federated with the portal. Do I use the ArcGIS Online style entry with clientId and clientSecret or do I use the ArcGIS Server token based pattern; username and password with tokenServiceUri? Or something else? Where does the token come from? Portal or Server? If anyone could give me some examples, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Dave

Hi, in the documentation for Portal it seems like you can configure Portal to use both Portal authentication and Active Directory authentication simultaneously. We also want to be able to allow anonymous users. When you click on the linked help sections it seems as though it's an either or situation. http://server.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/windows/about-configuring-portal-authentication.htm Does anyone have experience with this type of configuration and can share some insight and info on how to set that up. Thanks
