Background: I'm helping out a friend with their digital field recording conversion. They have a Archer unit running ArcPad and post processing using EFFIGIS/EZSurv. For the past 12 months they have been setting up shapefiles to transfer back and forth. They wanted to step it up with dropdowns etc so I suggested that they use feature classes as they should port over via .axf. Transfer to the device worked. Parking lot test worked (ie dropdowns were good). I am remote to their location so I don't have hands on to work with it. Problem: When the parking lot test came back in, they seem to have post processed fine, however when they go to Get Data From, it comes up with an error. "The following ArcPad AXF files were skipped: Did not contain a transaction log: C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache[cut off]" They told me the workflow they were using this time was the same as when they did when it was shapefiles. So I'm assuming that there is a workspace environment issue or the data itself is getting corrupted when they try to post process it. Any ideas?

I think they changed it up and put it in the 'configure app' part of the Web Mapping Application. I see it way down at the bottom and when checked I can see it on the PDF printout.

It must be because they are true curves. I had this pop up when I first got into AGO. You can also use the Densify tool instead of going through the export to shapefile process. It will take those true curves and add enough vertices to keep it at that shape. You can also select which objects you want and then use the tool. This way you don't add a bunch of vertices in an object that intentionally should only have 'X' amount like four corners of a building.

This happened to me last October. We ended up calling billing support and they were able to fix it. Still weird that it would occur to some users and not others.

I had some time to figure out where I went wrong on this. Originally I published an editable layer from ArcMap and then loaded it into an AGOL map. I enabled attachements from AGOL and did my field test collection. Bring it back into ArcMap and create a local copy for edit and no attachments are there. If you set up attachments in ArcCatalog and then publish it you will get your attachments when you bring it back in. Now you still have to go into each record to download them, but you also get the table with their name, which matches the name in the mobile device, so if you end up with hundreds of photos you can pull them off the device, then join the table to the shapefile and field calculate out their new location. Probably too gauche to give myself an 'answer.'

I created a hosted feature service from ArcMap. I enabled attachments and had a weekend of casual test collections. The attachments show up in AGO and there are copies stored on my phone. I want to pull all the attachments in one shot so I brought the hosted feature service into ArcMap and created a local copy for edit. Then I went to that local copy to download the attachments but it does not recognize that they are there. When I go to 'manage' and 'enable attachments' it is greyed out. Am I missing a step? When I downloaded it as a shapefile it came with Global IDs, do I need to set that up in the local copy? Or is there a way to get a field that autofills with the image name from the phone? This way I could take my phone local copies and just download and field calculate out the names.

In my industry it's very common to have project numbers. So I've been adding them to service names because each project has a 'project location' layer. This lets me keep them all separate. Here's a generic example. A000_000_project_location or project_location_A000_000. Now if I change it to A000000_projectlocation or projectlocation_A000000, it would be fine. It doesn't matter to me what the naming scheme is, I just want those elements somewhere in there.

Thank you for looking at my service. I've been held up the last couple days trying to clear my request inbox so I can dedicate some time to this. You were right, there were no records in the query. It was interesting though because the preview showed the data. So it got me thinking about what environmental or setting conditions I have that would create an error in publishing. So I took the same data and published several different ways. Different name, different editing abilities, different tags, etc. In the end it didn't like the numbers and underscores that I was using in the title. So that's a simple fix. Thanks for the help.

Yes, from ArcMap to a subscription (just double checked and I do have credits left). This is one of the service urls. http://services.arcgis.com/7EoGANEbeep6tdEf/arcgis/rest/services/12T0_130_digitized/FeatureServer/0 I do have a few services where this hasn't happened.

Over the last 2 months when I host a feature service through ArcMap it is not animating when I load it into a map. It is in the TOC, and it zooms to the correct location of the service, but does not animate. I've been getting by through uploading shapefiles directly. Any ideas? Probably something silly that I glanced over.

I'm thinking you are running into a known bug- NIM073410: Attachments in layer packages are not available in ArcGIS Explorer 1750. Please feel free to contact Support Services if you would like your account to be attached to the incident so that you can track its status. I think you're right on this. I took my data home and ran it through my laptop which I believe is running 1700 and it worked just fine. Brought that .nmf with me to work and it's not working. I haven't published online yet. That's the next step. Thanks for the help. Now at least I know why.

They aren't set up as hyperlinks in the feature class. I thought I would try this out since I have 10 pdfs per feature and didn't want to make all those attributes. http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2010/12/21/using-attachments-to-manage-associated-feature-content/ I enabled the html popup and it works great in ArcMap, but it doesn't work at all in Explorer desktop (trying online tonight). I wonder if I should load a XSL template. That might work.

I have enabled and attached several PDFs to a feature class in ArcMap. I created a package layer and added it to Explorer Desktop. The attachments are not listed in the popup. I looked online for help and I'm not sure if I haven't enabled something in Explorer Desktop or if there is another issue. Any ideas?
