Anyone know how to write a label expression that uses strikethrough text in ArcMap? (Python or VBscript) I'd like my labels to have a line striking through the text like this: 123-456-789. Is this doable? I bet I'm missing something obvious here. Thanks, Greg

Stacy, I receive a response to one of my posts today on this same issue I had in model builder. Layers (eg. feature layers, table views, or event layers) are stored temporarily in memory. Your script may be getting stuck because it might need to convert to a feature class after creating the xy event layer. Alternatively, you can use Convert Coordinate Notation, which goes from a flat file or excel spreadsheet directly to a point feature class. Best, Greg

I had a feeling there were multiple methods. I totally spaced the event "layer" is in memory similar to table views and feature layers. I'll try out the Convert Notation Tool as well. Thanks for your help Jayanta!

Oh, I see. It seems so simple now. Just like a feature layer or a table view, it's stored temporarily in memory and has not yet been written to the drive. Thank you Rhett!

At the end of my model, I'd like to output a gdb feature class from an input gdb table containing the coordinates. The Make XY Event Layer (Data Management) does not seem to work in my model. I'm sure there's multiple ways to do this.

Stacy- Have you found a solution for this yet? I'm having the same problem. I'm running on ArcGIS Desktop advance 10.4.1. Thanks, Greg

I'm looking to do something similar. I'd like to batch georeference 11x17 Tax Assessment maps. I have a workspace of .tiffs for each map name and a corresponding GIS polygon for the page extents. I'll let you know if I find something useful.

Interesting because I have a similar problem, but I'm running the agsAdmin.exe from command line. The service stops fine, but receive error "could not find resource or operation" when the same command is run with "start" parameter. Trying to figure out why...

I understand from Robert Sheitlin that the esearch widget does not allow for the <shareresults>true</shareresults> tag to add the search results to the layer list (TOC). This would also automatically add the layer results as a tab in the attribute table. This was useful because the search results could then be exported from the attribute table to a .csv file. Is there another way, or any ideas on adding the queried search results to the attribute table?

Oops. You're right. For some reason the service didn't publish as Web Mercator. I had reset the data sources in my .mxd to the geodatabase replica, but they maintained the definitions in the layer properties for some reason. So I've started with a fresh .mxd and re-added my web Mercator layer, saved and published. Now the map service looks correct, showing Spatial Reference: 102100 (3857). I guess I should know by now that 2229 is my local coordinate system, my bad. Thanks so much for your help Robert.

I used "batch project" geoprocessor to create an identical file geodatabase web mercator coordinate systems. I then republished the map service. I've created a test flex app and added my new web Mercator tiled service and the ESRI World Imagery basemap. For some reason they are still not displaying together. When I add my own basemap at the top of the basemap layers, the viewer will open and display fine; but when I choose the ESRI basemap, I get white space. If I then change the ESRI basemap to display first in the layer TOC, then the ESRI basemap displays fine, but when I choose own basemap, I get the white space. I checked the spatial references for both of these tiled services and they are both web-Mercator (Spatial Reference: 102645 (2229). Any ideas?

Thanks Robert. That's good advice. I believe it's definitely worth it to be able to use the free ESRI basemaps.

I noticed when adding the ESRI World Imagery Service to ArcGIS Desktop, the transformation is applied automatically match my data-frame's coordinate system. Is there a way to do this in the Flex Viewer? The reason is because I have a custom basemap I'd like to use with a different spatial reference than the ESRI World Imagery. Rather than transforming my custom basemap, I'd like to transform the ESRI World Imagery basemap.
