Ok sounds like Portal is not validating full access to the server when you add a Federated Server and then Hosting Server in Portal Settings. The federation makes sense since you can have multiple federated servers however; you would think that if the server cannot function as a Hosting server then it would not let you set this. Long story short, if you cannot access the ArcGIS Server Admin url using https://domain_name:6443/arcgis with no cert errors then don't federate and set hosting server. Portal will allow you to do this but your Portal will not be a functioning hosting server. This is not specific to Amazon and could occur in any deployment using a domain cert. Single machine deployment, one security group. Without the inbound rule allowing All traffic I cannot get to ipaddress:6443, fqdn:6443, or domain:6443. Added the rule and I'm in...

I have a single machine Portal deployment on an Amazon ec2 instance and I have successfully federated ArcGIS Server using the fqdn for the admin url (https://fqdn:6443/arcgis) however; despite this working (and validating) the server will not allow publishing or creation of feature or tile layers. What I found was that the amazon security group needed an inbound rule added to allow ALL traffic which allowed me to access 443 when not on server. Once I was able to get to 443, the admin url with the fqdn would return a cert error since this did not match the certs in place on server. The hosting server would still validate but still could not create hosted tile or feature layers. I used sharing/rest Update Server to change the admin url to the DNS name (https://thistookforevertofigureout.com:6443/arcgis) and this worked. Questions are; 1. Why did Portal allow me to federate using the fqdn admin url and then successfully validate that server as a valid hosting server when it was not working? 2. Why is the Allow all traffic Rule needed to get to port 443? Is there a more specific rule I can add that will be more secure? https is already added...

Update... uninstalled/re-installed Collector and the user is still not able to see the data. Collector is burying something deep in iOS that is preventing the user from viewing any of the layers in the web map.

I am using Collector with Portal for ArcGIS with portal-tier authentication. I have several users who cannot see data when a web map is opened. The map is shown in the available maps but no layers are displayed. If I give the user a different iPad and have them login they are able to open the map and all data is displayed. Definitely related to something being stored on the iPad. I can have two users logout of Collector, trade devices, login, and layers are shown. However, once it happens to a user on a device no amount of rebooting, logging out, or closing and reopening Collector will fix the issue.

I ran into an issue with a Survey with repeats and am wondering if anyone has seen this. I published a Survey directly to Portal and have 3 repeats in the Survey. When the survey published the related tables for the repeats were set up using a rowid field and a parentrowid field which are both guids. I am now seeing that the rowid guid field is maintained by the database but when a user opens a Sent survey and copies to a new survey the rowid is duplicated. The result is non unique row ids being populated in my related tables and features relating to records that they should not be. Everything looks good in Suvey123 if you view the survey in Sent Items, but if you look at the data in a web map you see a record that should have 3 related records have 50. Sidenote: The data also has a GlobalID field and the database is maintaining this with unique values, the copy does not seem to affect this field. I can fix this by reviewing the surveys last edit date, I have about 100 to go through, but how can i fix moving forward?

Getting a 404 error when trying to view the data from Surveys in Survey123 website. I am able to connect the Survey123 website to Portal 10.5.1 however; I am only able to view analytics on my surveys and I am unable to view the data to report or export. Portal/Data Store/AGS are all at 10.5.1. Site was upgraded from 10.5 and Survey123 website was not connected. I am wondering if values were not written during the upgrade and if I should run through these steps; How To: Configure Portal for ArcGIS to work with survey123.arcgis.com

I am using Enterprise with a federated service. Survey has been deployed using an existing Feature Service using the submission URL. Feature service allows Update only. I used these steps to set things up; Create Survey123 form and publish to Portal (as hosted service) Download Form (table) to File GDB Copy table from File GDB to SDE database Create relationship class between existing Feature Class and new table Publish feature class and table as Feature Service Open Survey123 Connect, New Survey>From Feature Service Add formatting back to Survey123 form Ensure submission url is valid and form name correct Re-Publish

Triple checked the sharing and everything seems good (logged into Portal on iPad and viewed the details of the Feature Service as the problem user). If the user is set to User or Publisher role they cannot submit a survey. If set to Administator role they can submit. I just created a custom role based on the Author role and tested and this works, see below for permissions set on that role.

I am getting error code 500 when submitting a Survey when the user is set to the User or Publisher role in Portal for ArcGIS. If the users is set to the Administrator role the Survey will submit. Do I need to create a custom role in Portal for users to submit surveys (so i don't have to make everyone Admins)? And what permissions are needed?
