I am having a heck of a time reconciling a form I created using connect. Everything works perfectly in the test environment and on a mobile device. However, the web form detects an error with calculating an age based on today's date and a driver's DOB. I have no problems on a mobile device though. The first pic is from the test environment of Survey 123 Connect which calculates the age correctly as does the published mobile app. This is on the web form and I get this error. Below is the xls form. I read that concat may solve this (it didn't) or converting to a string might do it (it didn't.) I don't mind keeping this as a purely mobile application, but there are times where it's more convenient to do this on the web. Any suggestions?

OMG, I spent days looking for a solution and setting the intersecting elevation fields to null was it. If you live in the Baltimore area I owe you a beer! I really like ESRI's attempt to provide good documentation, and generally they do a good job, but sometimes it misses small crucial details. This is one of them. ESRI, if you're listening, please update the Understanding Connectivity and Modeling Elevations help pages here to make this clearer: http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/10.3/guide-books/extensions/network-analyst/understanding-connectivity.htm I'm going to add to this discussion because I'm in the middle of building a multi-modal pedestrian network (2 groups.) The sources are group 1 - Sidewalks (any vertex connectivity), group 2 - roads (endpoint connectivity), and a custom junction point layer (roadMeetsSidewalk) that overrides the connectivity rules in both groups. The “building a multi-modal network” documents don’t completely describe how to build one from scratch. Here are some additional tips I can provide. If you have road A vertex intersect road B vertex, you can use a junction to override the endpoint connectivity. In my network, if road A endpoint ends with road B vertex, I still have to use a junction to override the connectivity rules, but I must put the road A elevation to null. If you have the vertex of a sidewalk layer (described above) intersect the vertex of a road vertex a junction can also provide connectivity between both groups. The reason why I’m going into this much detail with this is the high level of complexity that goes into building a multi-modal network, and I’ve found it won’t work without adhering to these tips.

I spent days trying to figure out why our internal REST services wouldn't display on AGOL. Originally, I thought there was a permissions issue, but I got the bright idea to try Chrome and TAADAA! everything worked as expected. AGOL basemaps display, I search and add layers on AGOL, but I cannot add our own REST services using edge. It only works on Chrome, Firefox, or Explorer.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. Despite having many years of experience creating network, I never had a need to restrict some stops to certain parts of the network. Even though this restriction should have been anticipated. For the newbies out there, here's how I solved this problem. From my centerline file I made a new column called StopRestrict. If 0, a stop can be placed on the road, if 1 then the stop cannon be placed on the road. Then, on my stop layer (from a new route analysis), select the centerline layer and build a query where StopRestrict = 0. I included a screenshot. Again, I cannot believe I didn't know this. I do a lot of analysis with routing and ridership, and I run into this problem regularly. Let's say there are 5 addresses on a cul-de-sac and one of the houses back up to an interstate. If I create a route and use these addresses as stops, Network Analyst believes 1 address is on the interstate and routes equipment to the interstate. Is there a way to use the interstate for routing purposes, but restrict stops from being placed on the closest road? I'm dealing with about 45,000 addresses. I provided an example of this problem. There are points (these are all random) and the closest to I-95, not the neighborhood street, so it assigns these points to the wrong facility. Based on the picture you may ask, "why not just draw a service road these addresses and that would be used during the analysis." That would be ok, except I'm dealing with about 45,000 points and I don't maintain the centerline layer.

I'm sorry, I forgot I recently upgraded and I am at Pro 2.0.1, so to answer your question the upgrade hasn't helped speed-wise. I cannot speak of stability, but it hasn't crashed recently.

I do a lot of route and VRP analyses in ArcMap, which includes about 2500 bus trips and 20000 bus stops. Additionally, I have a very complicated bus tiering model that stacks bus trips efficiently. I have no problems completing these using ArcMap 10.4.1. However, I want to fully move to ArcGIS Pro (EDIT: I'm at 2.0.1), but when it comes to using Network Analyst Pro is terribly slow and unstable. It's basically unusable in it's current form. Here's a quick comparison. I just made 976 routes from 20282 bus stops. ArcMap, from loading stop points to completion is about 5 minutes. Pro takes about 3 minutes 21 seconds to load the stops and then it endlessly runs while drawing the routes. If I cancel there are, in fact, routes, but it's so slow (30+ minutes) just to get to that point I question if it can actually do the job. Finally, the bus tiering model I have works in Pro, but the VRP is so slow I have to use ArcMap. Pro will churn for hours, while the analysis is done in about 20 minutes in ArcMap. Am I the only one experiencing this and if so is anyone at ESRI looking into resolving this? Thanks, Doug

I second Heather's suggestion. I assume you are using a non-ordered pair, which I believe is correct. There must be a problem with the capacities of the vehicle and the pickup quantities of the order, because the solver will not exceed the route (vehicle) capacity. There is also a capacity count on the network layer too, but since you're only doing weight then this would be set to 1. I would check this out, but this is probably not the issue.

I appreciate the suggestion, but it results in the same problem I am struggling to resolve. Time windows only control when a vehicle can arrive to a destination, so, using my times, if I set the window from 2:00 PM to 2:07 PM with a 7 minute service time, the bus could leave anywhere from 2:07 PM to 2:14 PM. This is really what I want as the bus should ideally arrive by 2:00 PM and MUST leave by 2:07 PM. However, the reality of it, buses are late sometimes and as I said if I totally enforce the 7 minute service time, then I project too much equipment because buses are leaving late (say 2:11 PM.) That's why I want the service time to be TimeWindow2 - ArrivalTime. If the bus couldn't make it until 2:03 PM, then my service time would ideally change to 4 minutes, because as I said the bus must leave at 2:07 PM. There are some rules that are strict (depart at 2:07 PM) and some that are flexible (7 minute service time.) My solution was to change the timewindow1 to 2:06:50 PM, timewindow2 to 2:07 PM, and my servicetime to 0 minutes . Equipment is now tiering logically, which is great, but I don't like that I am not considering service time in the model because in reality it takes time to load children onto a bus. InboundArriveTime is a good suggestion, but from my understanding equipment won't leave the depot until the order has arrived at the destination. I need my equipment to be in transit, or at the destination, as to anticipate picking up the order. I may be misunderstanding this variable. I may need to experiment with this variable more. If ESRI would implement a "depart at" variable, then I could schedule my time windows and tell the modeller to leave at an exact time. Couple this with additional variables like minimum service time and maximum service time, then I could create a much more accurate VRP model. Thanks for the suggestion. Doug

Currently, Network Analyst allows routes in a vehicle routing problem requires you to specify an ending depot but a starting depot is optional. Please make both depot fields optional to model a contractor vehicle which begins at the first order pick up, and ends at the last order drop off. There are no depots in these scenarios.

I am working on a model to optimize a fleet of over 450 school buses and what trips they will service. Everything works beautifully, except one thing, and I will describe the scenario. When the school bell rings in the afternoon at 2:00 PM the bus should be there and wait 7 minutes to service the order (servicetime). The bus should depart at 2:07 PM ideally. However, if I strictly enforce this time rule, I am left with an unrealistic increase in equipment because I some buses will be late. However, If I allow buses to be late say 5 minutes, then a bus can arrive at 2:05 PM, but since my service time always remains 7 minutes, I am left with is a bus leaving at 2:12 PM, which distorts my next set of orders. What I need is a way to subtract service time from arrival time, but is there a way I can set service time dynamically? Here's what ESRI says: A time window only states when a vehicle can arrive at an order; it doesn't state when the service time must be completed. To account for service time and leave before the time window is over, subtract ServiceTime from the TimeWindowEnd1 field. What they fail to say is where and how to do this. Any suggestions? Doug

Hello, I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing a problem with the Split (analysis) tool? It would show an error with background tasks enabled. When I disable background tasks, it runs forever and it cannot be cancelled. I attached a screenshot of the dialog box while trying to cancel out of it, but this is what it does while it's running. Does anyone else see issues with the Delete Rows GP tool hanging at 10.1? We are using this GP tool within a model that updates records within a polygon SDE feature class. Our model uses a view which is a table of of new projects. We are creating a temp layer with "Make Feature Layer" using a little SQL query so that the new temp layer has only the records that are in the new project view. We are then utilizing the delete rows to delete all records matching the view in the SDE feature by way of the temp layer>delete rows. The records are removed from our SDE feature class just fine. Our issue is in the time it takes to delete these records. Even when there are only 12 records to delete, it can take upwards of 7 minutes to run. Our SDE feature class is quite large (400K records) but they are indexed. We did not have this type of lag with our 9.2 env running on SQL 2000, so I was wondering if anyone had an idea whether or not this is related to 10.1 or maybe the way our SDE has been setup in the 10.1 env. Which is running on a SQL 2008r2 release. Cheers! Yes. I'm running this process as an update for a layer with about 86000 polygons and it takes forever. This should be a much faster process. Normally, I would delete the feature, but it participates in topology and if I delete the layer I have to rebuild the topololgy.
