Hi all, I'm trying to work out the best way to structure my data to allow our surveyors to capture data in the field with Collector. They need to go out and survey trees and their defects. There is a many to one relationship between defects and the tree so I want to use related data so when they are in the field they can capture some overarching information about the tree, i.e. species, height, etc. and then for each defect they identify they'll then capture specific information. The information being captured for each defect is the same (same fields) but the type of defect will vary. Can Collector use related data and how does this present itself to the surveyor, i.e. do they capture a point for the tree and then add tabular data for each of the defects? Any help would be great. Thanks, David.

Hi all, Possibly a really easy question to answer and I'm just having one of those moments but... if I have two point features in the same layer within the Collector App and I want to make edits to one of them, it only seems to allow me to select and edit the 'top' one, i.e. there doesn't seem to be a way of choosing which one you want to make edits to. The data is ecological features which relate to trees, hence multiple points being at exactly the same location. Is the inability to choose which point you edit by clicking on it just a limitation of Collector or is there a way to choose which one you edit? Hopefully that makes some sense and thanks in advance if you have any solutions. David.

Last question (for today at least!). I've got an If statement in my original excel spreadsheet 'form' which I'd like to use in Survey123. Is there any easy way to convert this to Survey123 compliant syntax? I've given it a go from what I've seen online but it's not working as I'm sure I've not interpreted the rules correctly! if(selected(${HSIScore}<=0.5),'Poor',if(selected(${HSIScore}<=0.59),'Below Average',if(selected(${HSIScore}<=0.69),'Average','Excellent'))) so in effect the field would be updated with the word Poor if the preceding text question (HSIScore had an answer of less than or equal to 0.5, Below Average for >0.5 but <=0.59 and so on, with Excellent being the value where HSIScore doesn't meet any of those defined criteria. Any advice as to how to do these nested if statements in Survey123? Thanks in advance.

Hi James. Thanks again, that did the trick! I was a sceptic when ArcPad was being replaced by numerous alternatives including Survey123 but I'm being won over! David.

Thanks James that is really helpful and solved my issue! I have another which you may know the answer to as well. I have a select list (drop down) which, based on which answer the user chooses, it then automatically populates the next field. I looked at cascading selects and I can make this do what I need but I'd rather remove the user having to click and choose the answer to the 2nd question. To be specific the first question asks what the Latin name is of the bat species spotted and the 2nd field will be it's common name. There are only about a dozen or so possible responses to question 1 so I thought that a kind of 'if' statement might do the trick but then decided that there has got to be a better and automated way to do this. Any help would be very welcome!

Hi, I'm trying to work out how to create a Survey123 form which enables the user to capture overarching information about a 'site', surveyor name, weather, etc. and then has numerous 'observations' within the site with each observation inheriting the overarching information. This would be a one (site) to many (observations) relationship. Does anyone know if this can be done in Survey123 and what needs to be done to allow this functionality? If anyone has any examples or can point me in the right direction that would be appreciated. I'm new to Survey123, having been a long time ArcPad user, so if I've not been clear or this is already covered in other posts then I'd welcome your thoughts. Thanks in advance, David.

Hi, I've created the attached custom edit form but I want to set it so that when the user clicks on a radio button it prevents them from being able to enter information (or prevents them from accessing) the subsequent pages. The radio button is "Radio1" which is the second one down in the series of three with the text "Same as previous species list" in front of it. When the user selects that it should disable access/ability to update the entries on page 2 onwards. I'm trying to do this as no matter how much I tell the surveyors, and include text on the entry form, they still select that radio button then continue to enter species info on the subsequent pages, which is highly frustrating. I'm not a programmer so don't even have a starting point on this one but your help would be very welcome! I have had some advice that I need to put code in the update click of that radio button that then individually disables each combolist, but as there are hundreds of them I though there must be a better way?? Thanks, Dave.

Hi, We've got an ArcPad 10 Edit form that we want to customise so that if a tick box is ticked it will prevent the user from accessing one of the Pages (tabs), is that possible within ArcObjects and is there sample code to enable this to be accomplished. I'm no programmer but one of my team might be able to hash it together if given a starting point. Thanks. Dave.

Hi, I'm using ArcPad 10 SP1 on a tablet. I have a problem that when capturing photos, using either the photo button or the photo point button the stored photo gps location is actually shifted by over 120m away from my current location. If I capture a point into a point layer using the GPS capture button it places it exactly where the GPS says I am so I'm confused why the photo locations are massively wrong? It seems to have nothing to do with the GPS side of things as this works. Is there a known problem with this????? Anyone have a fix???? I'm desperate! Thanks, Dave.
