Hello all, I'm trying to build a Spatial ETL tool that takes multiple shapefiles that are in a StatePlane (feet) projection and imports them into a file geodatabase that is in a Web Mercator projection. Each time I do this, I get the following error: Reproject: Could not reproject the geometry of the preceeding features: Reprojector - Invalid reprojection parameters I tried doing this both directly from the Navigator window, changing both the Writer and Reader coordinates as well as creating a reprojection transformer. Neither of these solved this issues. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello all, I'm working on creating a model in Model Builder where the user creates a new feature class that has a predefined field schema and then selects the fields from the current feature class that will be mapped to the new fields in the newly created feature class. For example, in the road centerline layer the user has a field named "STREET_NAME". The final outputted schema is named "FULL_ST_NAME". I want to first browse to their road centerline layer (model parameter) and then be able to choose this field ("STREET_NAME") in a dropdown (model parameter) from the first parameter. When the tool is then run, its attributes are mapped into the "FULL_ST_NAME" field in the newly outputted feature class. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Am I missing something in this code? It seems like this would just "strip" the whitespace from the ends and still leave all the internal spaces? R_ Yes, only the whitespace from the ends get stripped with this code and the internal spaces are still present. I am using this code against file and personal geodatabases.

Hi Jake, Thanks for the quick response and script. I tried using this script that you provided by replacing "parcels" with the path to my feature class. I then added this script into ArcToolbox and ran it. The ran successfully, but when I opened the feature class, the extra spaces did not appear to get removed. Is there anything else that I am missing? Thanks again!

Hello, I have been using this Python script on one field at a time using the Field Calculator and it is working very well, thank you. What I am now looking for is to see if there is a Python script that could be run that would look at all fields in a particular feature class and remove any extra spaces in any of those fields. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

You can do it ModelBuilder but in a cumbersome way. You will need to embed two extra models and a script tool in a main model. Instead, use this script - simple and straightforward. import arcpy
import os
# replace data path with your OWN data.
in_data = r"C:\data\f.gdb\parcels"
field_list = []
numeric_fields = ["Double", "Integer", "SmallInteger"]
fields = arcpy.ListFields(in_data)
for field in fields:
if (field.type in numeric_fields):
field_list.append(field.name)
# convert the list of fields to a semicolor delimited string
fields = ";".join(field_list)
rows = arcpy.UpdateCursor(in_data, '', '', fields)
count = len(field_list)
for row in rows:
for k in range(count):
if row.isNull(field_list ):
row.setValue(field_list , 0)
rows.updateRow(row)
Let me know if you have any trouble. If you want you can modify the script a little bit to use it in a script tool. I am also trying to incorporate "float" field types as well into this script. I am adding "float" into this line: numeric_fields = ["Double", "Integer", "SmallInteger", "Float"]. However, the float field does not update. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Hello all, I'm working on trying to merge three different road centerlines (different schema) layers into one layer in Model Builder. I am able to do that but the only issue that I am experiencing is with one of the layers. I am using domains in this layer and in the final outputted layer I need the coded value in one of the fields and the Description in a different field. Does anyone have any ideas on how I would go about this? Thanks!

I actually figured this out. The reason for these errrors was because I had a corrupt MXD. After copying all of my data into a new MXD, everything worked fine.

Hi all, I'm trying to create a tile package using some StreetMap Premium map data. Everytime I get to the end of the process, I get an error that reads "Invalid raster dataset. Failed to create raster layer." When I hit OK, I then get a message that the package has been successfully created. However, when I try and open it, I get another error message stating "The package is not valid. Check with the package publisher for an updated package." The strange thing is that I don't think I'm even using any raster data. Does anyone have any idea to make this work? Thanks!

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone else was running into this same issue when rebuilding an address locator in ArcGIS 10.1: I am able to create address locators in ArcGIS 10.1, but when I try to rebuild them with the Store Relative path names set to true, I get the attached errors. They do rebuild fine if this option is set to false.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the responses. Is there anyway to search all of the fields in the selected map layers and not just one field?

Hi all, I'm trying to create a model that will take selected feature classes, search their attributes, and remove any <Null> values in these tables. Some of these fields will be an integar field type so I would need to replace these <Null's> with 0. Do you have any ideas to go about this? Thanks in advance!

Hello all. I'm looking to join a feature class with an Excel spreadsheet using the Address fields in both entities to base the join on. However, my Excel spreadsheet has a telephone number field (the feature class does not) and some addresses in it have multiple telephone numbers (multiple entries with the same address but different phone numbers). The feature class only has one address where as the Excel spreadsheet often times has several. When I run a basic join, only the first telephone number populates. I would like to get them all from the Excel spreadsheet. Is there some sort of one-to-many join that I could run to get the results that I am looking for? Thanks!

Thank you. Would it be safe to assume that this issue will be resolved in ArcGIS 10.1 as well since it looks like it will be part of ArcGIS 10 SP5?
