These work-arounds are frustrating. Field calculations does not equal typical attribute edits for single features. I fully understand there is different processes going on between the two. In my case, I have to edit over 6,000 hydrants into 3 types. Obviously, single feature editing would not be efficient. Field calculator is great until I accidentally calculate with "show all records" instead of "show selected records" in my table. To do what you suggest Patterson, I would need to create and trade values from another column. However, another step of reorganizing my values, at this point I wonder if ESRI could develop, or implement a new behavior for the field calculator. To allow reverts, or at least discard and replace values with original values stored from temporary memory. Again I am not a computer scientist( B.S. Geology with GIS experience both professional and academic) but feel this would streamline and optimize users workflows.

Esri, Why can't the same method of saving/editing single feature attributes be applied to the output of a field calculation? I have created a new "Ideas" post concerning this topic. If you feel this would improve your own workflows please up-vote the Idea: FIELD CALCULATOR : Discard/Revert option Problem: Editing feature attributes using arcgis pro, but under the "Edit" ribbon the save and discard buttons continue to remain grey and unselectable during my edit sessions using field calculator. To clarify, when I make an edit to a features attributes I expect the save and discard options to become available after I finished changing the attributes and select the next features I would like to edit. Normally, if I manually click the attribute and input my value, both save and discard options are available, and they work great. However, my project involves a massive amount of features(over 6,000) so a method of single-feature edits is not efficient. Therefore I will be using field calculator for this project. Earlier today, accidentally calculated field with "show all records" selected instead of "show only selected". All features' attributes were changed. Requiring me to go back through all features. Alternatives involve creating clones, re-organizing the copied values, etc. - Chris Kohler

Can an ESRI employee please comment. Correct me if I got this wrong, your expecting ALL users to build "code-work-arounds" for the same problem. How about this, the ONE source(ESRI) develops the code ITSELF. Problem solved. To build code work-around REDUNDANT MATH: 100 USERS X 60 minutes = 6,000 minutes spent 1 Company x 120 minutes(implementation and patch) = 120 minutes ESRI is in the business of making geospatial products accessible I thought. Real-world example: My city is asking for pdf's of all fire zones located within each firestation. Simplified workflow: 1. Create map series using map series function 2. Export X number of created maps from map series as pdfs(one UI tool) 3. Share with enterprise(in this case my firehouses, all 12 of them) Why was this functionality excluded?

After couple hours I can't find a way to recover my (2 week long ) project. ESRI support staff, I am just trying to group my bottom labels together and my side labels together as you can see on this picture. They are "ghosting" my project after I group the labels and removes the objects COMPLETELY from my contents. I cannot select them, move them , delete them , etc. This is not acceptable. Can you tell me how to fix this? I'm very disappointed if my 2-week long project is tanked from a grouping issue. Im very frustrated please help!

A feature service I created in ArcMap, named "treeinventory", is used in ArcGIS Online to create a web map, "...with editing enabled", but cannot create new features in the mapviewer, is there something I am missing? Under the "Edit" tab, within mapviewer, I select the feature type I want to add and then click on a location but nothing further happens. No feature is created. I appreciate any help or advice, thank you

Hello and thank you for any help, advice or guidance on this issue. Currently, I work as a GIS technician so I feel very comfortable learning and understanding new concepts with GIS, but I am stuck on trying to load data using only relates into my city's Local Government Information Model(LGIM). Goal: - Have bike lanes integrated into our LGIM using a relate to avoid adding fields into LGIM feature classes. Ultimately, if we can have the LG feature class contain relates to other tables of data that describes these bike lanes. Details: -The target feature class is (facilities streets) streetbikelane -My source of data is from a bikelanes_routes shapefile -Attempted to use joins, but I don't want to add a field to the feature class, which is what I need to do in order to create a join Below I've attached my raw data shapefile of the bike lanes I am open to any suggestions to minimize editing fields of the LG feature classes.
