There is an exceptional tool to extract multiple values from several rasters to a point layer: Extract Multi Values to Points. It is great because: You can extract values from several rasters at once You can customize the name of the field It doesn't generate a new dataset, just adds the selected values in new fields. But what happens if you want to apply the same principle using vectors instead? Say you want to add census tract data and parcel attributes to an address point layer. There are several approaches depending on your desired output but all of them require multiple steps (overlays/proximity/joins/add fields/calculate fields/delete fields...) especially if you want to join fields from multiple layers. I'm adding a Paint-engineered screenshot of the proposed tool: Actually, the Operator should be in the same line as input layer and fields since it should be introduced for each new field to calculate. Unlike rasters, there is a chance for vector layers to be stacked so the Operator is handy in these cases. A more simple tool for just one layer and one field would also be a huge improvement from the current situation. I added a search radius because some times you want to join attributes from a near feature. For instance, you could join parcel attributes to a point address that might be close but not inside the parcel. Adding proximity information from other layers is one of the most recurrent operations so I think this tool would potentially be one of the most used ones.

Same problem here. We did some calculations back in 2015 for a relatively large area. We worked by iterating an overlapping fishnet of our AOI and it took us about 3 months to process the whole thing. Now we are doing it again using a new DSM. Our machines are way better now compared to the ones we used in 2015. We are performing first estimates on how long will it take us and it is not much less than 3 months. It's true we have more resolution now (our DSM has 4 times more resolution). But still, one would expect much more improvement having way better CPUs with more threads, cores, RAM, switching from 32 bits to 64, etc. And yes, you take a look at the taskmanager and it doesn't seem to be doing much, probably uses 5% of resources. This would be ridiculous in gaming. There have been a lot of improvements in the ESRI ecosystem but geoprocessing power has never been a top priority.

We are currently using Quick Capture to do some quality assessment of the sidewalks and pedestrian spaces of the city. We have designed optimal routes to cover several neighborhoods. Then each field worker is following his track and captures all spots presenting issues for pedestrian accessibility (damaged pavement, narrow sidewalks, conflicts with electric posts, trees, terraces and so on). The city is carrying a plan to give jobs to young unemployed people for this project. The problem is that we suspected some field workers were not inventorying all streets. The solution now is they need to add a control point at every street so we can later check they have covered their routes but this is of course adding extra work for them. Having the ability to automatically create control points periodically would allow us to control that all streets are being covered without adding extra complications for the field workers.

Today I needed to calculate mode and I was very surprised to see there is not such option. I thought the option existed when the field was integer but not. I don't understand why working with raster data you can have several tools for this statistic (majority, focal, zonal...) but not as a summary stat. Once again, QGIS rescued me. This time with the "Statistics by categories" tool that calculates mode and some other neat stats: (Q1, Q3, IQR, unique).

I find it hard to understand how the Worlds leader in GIS technology and Google can not come to terms on the use of StreetView panoramas with esri basemaps I couldn't agree more with you. StreetView marked a before and after in how people interacted with maps. Ask GIS or non-GIS users what mapping tools they use in a daily basis and most will name StreetView. So obviously the choice between two similar products with and without StreetView will be easy. It is a good marketing campaign from ESRI to keep most of the users off their products. Wake up.
