Michael Miller@ Is there a way to ESC out of this particular Select Option form inside of Attribute Assistant? If we could ESC or quit the form then we would not have to undo the Edit that it forces us to make. If not, could this be added to an enhancement request for Attribute Assistant improvements? Thanks!

It would be nice to be able to set the favicon on simple web apps built through AGOL without having to hassle with code. The new Open Data 2.0 sites do it quite nicely as it is a property of the site. (see image below) This is by no means a show stopper but the less code I have to deal with the better. Seems like it was an simple non-functional requirement that will eventually be dealt with. (as of 2/15/2017).

Chris You are misunderstanding. The point of this Idea is to tell the public who use the maps and apps in your AGOL site that the site is under maintenance. This is a very common practice so users don't try to use web pages that are being worked on. In my case, we serve up all of our map services from our servers. We do not use hosted services. So when I am working on either the database server or map server, my AGOL sites that consume that data will not work correctly. The Dashboard link you provided is to tell YOU, the admin, the health of ESRI's backend services. Does that make sense now? My work around was to temporarily insert text into my AGOL home page and Open Data site homepage that notified the user the site would be under maintenance for a short time on a given date/time. Not very effective but its all I can do. Aaron

ESRI says AGOL can't do it, today. There is an ArcGIS Ideas entry for this https://community.esri.com/ideas/12361 If you want it then vote for it!!!

Has anyone succeeded in creating a maintenance notification for AGOL for when they are doing maintenance on a map server or database? When we upgrade our map server or enterprise geodb. we would like to place a notification on AGOL that states the site is unavailable due to scheduled maintenance. I know I can disable anonymous access but that doesn't explain why the site is unavailable to the public. I can also take my OPEN DATA to private mode but that just redirects to generic open data informational page. Ideas????

Mind blowing. I have operated for years under the belief not to exceed the versions listed because they were not "supported." You know what would help. Presenting the info like you do on the OS page with a Min/Max format. Then no grey area. !?

Hey George So as of today (10/11/2016) the supported RDBMS page says this: So are these the "base builds" referred to in the policy? I would surmise then that loading SQL 2012 SP1 is the "supported" "base build" of the software and that loading pre SP1 would be problematic which is exactly what seemed to be the issue we were experiencing. When my problem began the requirements page did not include SP1, leading myself to believe I should not be loading up SP1 or SP2. (even though that was the solution to the problem) In other words, we should look at the Reqs. page as the lowest level and anything above it is OK to install? So if MS put out SP3 tomorrow it would be good to load from ESRI's perspective? I always used this page as the ceiling and its seems now it is the floor for installed version determination. Am I understanding correctly? BTW - thanks for engaging on the topic.

ESRI does not list SP1 or SP2 yet as supported so go with the base install to stay compliant. Here is there list Standard/Enterprise editions Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (64-bit) http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/10.3/get-started/system-requirements/database-requirements-sqlserver.htm

Sorry for not posting a solution. Long story short - ESRIs KB says to call Microsoft. That costs money. We didn't do that. The undocumented solution was to install the highest SQL 2014 service pack available. It turned into a comedy of errors but the end result was a solution. This MS page shows all the current SP's for the different versions SQL 2014. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2936603 We are on SQL Server 2014 SP1 CU7 Build version 12.0.4459.0 I have had only 3 UNLOADDED ... errors since the we patched to CU7 and "normal" performance has returned Whether you are at the base install or SP1 or SP2 you want to install the highest/latest CU. Hope this helps. P.S. - always make a backup!!!

Jay The trucks have a 20,000 lb. capacity and each stop generates on average 15 lbs. of effluent (actually its organics/ compostables). 875 x 15 = 13,125 lbs. No prob. I understand the general concepts to use other solvers/summary geographies to solve the capacity issue. Each introduces its own data maintenance and/or bias issues. The 3rd party solution is the most likely path but RouteSmart doesn't like to work with locally maintained data so that is an issue. We'll keep digging. Thx for the time.

Hi Jay Thanks for the quick reply! The use case is currently 8 trucks (routes) can pick up 7000 garbage collections in a day. The area of the pickups has a hard outline. We are trying to optimize routes. The vehicle is a truck with the arm picking up the can that is curbside so it is very fast. People in our streets division say each "order" takes 15 seconds on average. With time constraints it works out to a 6:15 hour rolling day and roughly 2.3 pickups per minute. Sounds like they are flying to me but we have never used analytics to look at the actual routes and their efficiencies. Make sense? Aaron Cohen

Yep - PRO ain't there yet. I am running 64 Background GP. Multiple CPUs (6-9) show activity. If you mean check process activity then ArcMap.exe is the only thing consuming resources and it is at 4%-ish. when running a VRP The layers in a VRP are Memory classes. Never heard or seen how you would index a memory class. I will try to figure out how to get this to Jay. Still not quite sure how GEONET works. Thanks.

Dan I spent the morning running ground up tests starting with a single route with 70 orders. I'll cut to the chase. A VRP with 700 orders on 8 routes with a limit of 90 orders per route will complete in a couple minutes. Basically I gave it a very small balanced problem. Orders are very tightly packed to minimize network thrashing. But the same model where you adjust the order limit on the same routes to 875 will run forever. (I killed it off after 15 minutes - stuck on "Inserting orders 33%") I got 1400 orders to run on 8 routes allowing 175 orders per route in 15 minutes. Pretty decent. This shows that it isn't necessarily the orders, per se, that drive up time, but the function that growing orders requires you to grow route order limits which drives up time. When the orders go up, which forces you to increase the order limit, regardless of number of routes, the time grows exponentially. When any one route gets too large things break down. The Network Analyst route order limit is 1000 orders per route. I was never able to get anything to complete with a limit of even 875. Simply put 7000 orders on 8 routes is too big for the solver to handle. One final note: I have it running a single route with 900 orders and a order limit of 900 and it has been running for over an hour. (the operative info. is that the order limit is high on the single route which makes it run poorly.) If anyone can see a flaw in what I am doing PLEASE let me know.

I have 7000 orders that will be serviced by 8 routes. This gives me roughly 875 orders per route. The actual running of this VRP takes FOREVER!!. (running for numerous hours and still stuck at 33% loading orders) I set each route to accept a limit of 875 routes, well below the max of 1000. My desktop has 10.3.1 with the 64 bit Background GP capability installed and enabled. The PC has 16 GB of RAM that the 64 bit Background GP can access and an Intel Xeon dual processor that manages 24 cores (virtually). Data and MXD are local so no network latency for resources. In other words I am throwing the kitchen sink at my solver and it still is taking FOREVER!!! Any one have some solid advice for me besides "cut up the orders into smaller sets and run them independently" because that does not generate "true" routes. Thanks in advance for any insights!!
