When applying a mask for no data to a raster symbology, you first need to tick the box that says "Display background value" Then there are the 3 RGB values you need to enter to make your no data transparent or what ever color you require. This is mostly 255, 255,255 for white back grounds. When you tick the box and start entering the values, Arc loads the symbology after each value and you have to wait between 5 and 10 seconds for each entry before you can continue to the next value. A good idea would be to enter the values before first ticking the box. Once you have entered your 3 values, then you tick the box and Arc only has to recalculate the symbology once. Can you add bathymetry data in raster format from within a File geodatabase. when I "add bathymetry" and brows to my file geodatabase, I only see the point datasets available. If I filter the file types to "file system raster" the FGDB does nto even show.

I am using ArcGIS 10.4 with the ArcGIS for Maritime: Bathymetry extension. I managed to load several data sets into a BIS (in Filegeodatabase) and I created a Surface model using my data. What I would like to do is to clip the surface model to the bounding co-ordinates of a feature. I cant seem to find a way to do this except to export the surface model as a grid and extract by mask using the Spatial analyst extension.

Hi I am making a series of maps that are tiled with latitudes and longitudes as boundaries. Eg Map 1 is between 19deg E and 18 deg E and 34deg S and 33deg S, Map 2 will be directly to the north at 33deg S to 32Deg S. There must be no overlap between maps, so the map information must stop at the lat or Lon boundary. In the layout view I want the layout border to be the lat or long bounding co-ordinates, and it must display the label. I have tried dragging the layout frame to match the co-ordinates, but this generally cause the labels to disappear, or there is a gap between the the graticule and the layout border. I have also made a shape file with the area I want to display on the map and then clipped the layout to that shape. But this also tends to lose the labels. Is there any way to force the layout boundary to fit the graticule Regards Wilhelm PS I also need the map at a specified scale.

Thanks for the reply. I looked again at the data in the areas with problems, and I think the biggest problem is the density of the on land data in those areas. regards Wilhelm

convert your the poly-line feature of your islands to points and assign it a value of 0. Add these to your xyz file and re-grid your data. I have done this with bathymetry data around islands and coastlines and it seems to work. Just keep in mind you have now created a bunch of virtual values.

Hi I have bathymetry and on-land elevation data from which I would like to make a seamless on-offshore grid. I also have a vector coastline to which I would like to force the grid. How do I use the coastline as a break-line to force my grid to have 0 values along the coastline? I have tried converting the coastline feature to a point feature with z = 0, then including it into my xyz file, but I still have areas where the + "land values" spills over into the sea. regards Wilhelm
