I am working on a sensitive topic using either the Crowdsource Polling or Reporter template. One of the major issues with these applications is the ability for the community to input a large number of malicious responses. What can I do about this? Can I -- Track a guest-login unique ID? Limit the number of responses by any ID to one every so-many-seconds or minutes? Track IP and refuse input if they are not 'local'? I would love to somehow limit the responses to locals in the area but I can't find documentation on this Generate unique links to the app that are a one-time use? Limit a user to one response? Please let me know! I am looking into the webapp developer edition because there may be some form of json or arc py code I could use to accomplish these aims but I'm not sure if this is necessary at this point.

This is the tool that I always use but I will try out your method and see what happens as soon as I get home.

Right, maybe it was wrong of me to show those columns as a justification but the point stands, they are still in the same spot. I will update in a second with pictures. -- edit --

Yeah, that's exactly what I do to test the projection, though. Add the shape file, then add the base map. Still the projection tool doesnt seem to change the spatial orientation at all.

That is precisely my frustration. I of course open up a new blank map template and dump my newly projected file into it which doesn't show the transformation at all. For instance, I add an ESRI basemap to both the UTM and NAD projections and they are roughly in the ocean at the same location. Any ideas?

Hello everyone, I have had a frustrating experience with the project tool lately and have not come across someone with a similar question/answer so I thought I'd ask it here. I have a data set in .csv format which I then projected the XY points into Arcmap v. 10.5. I made sure to export the data so I could work on it but I also needed to change the projection system. I knew that when I projected the XY it would need to be in the State Plane UTM Zone 10 format, so I had made sure to do that before completing and exporting the data at this point. However, this data set for other purposes needed to be re-projected from the State Plane UTM Zone 10 format to the NAD 1983 California III FIPS format. Using the project tool in Arctoolbox was my go-to solution, however, after the projection the coordinates and position of the XY points stay the same. I have tried starting a fresh and blank template up and that also showed the points in the same location as the UTM coordinates. If anyone knows where I went wrong here please let me know. I have attached a few screenshots to illustrate the problem more thoroughly. The UTM and NAD file The UTM projection The NAD projection

Hello everyone, I have done time-animations within Arcmap on a small scale in the past, however, I now have a large data set I would like to animate but there are several issues that I have not been able to resolve through various youtube and esri tutorials and information. I want to track the movement of persons output from a modal. The modal output is in CSV format which has a start/end location, however, the way they travel across the street network is written in a string format. For instance, the CSV looks like this: Person 1 | Star-X | Start-Y | End-X | End-Y | Link 00001, 00002, 00003, 00004, 00005 | Time | Vehicle The links each represent a line in another file where a link has both a starting and endpoint. I'm not sure how to break out the links so that the person follows the line in the animation or how to get them to move across the line based on the time field. Not to mention that I have about 100,000 people I would like to animate. Any help or guidance would be awesome!

I'll try that after dinner, though, I'd like to also mention that when running the hotspot analysis it saves the file into a feature set -- point in this case -- and that was what I brought into the template. Perhaps the point feature loses its symbology?

Hello community, I have run a hotspot analysis on a set of data and wanted to take that output into a custom template to quickly generate several maps, however, when I brought my hotspot point feature class into the template all of the symbology was gone -- such as the 99%-red all the way down to the 99%-blue. I'd like to bring this symbology back into play here but I have not found any helpful methods of doing this here on the forums or anywhere else for that matter. Here is a picture of what I have currently: Please, if you can point me in the right direction, that'd be awesome!

That worked! It was formatted correctly but importing the file into my geodatabase seems to have solved my issue! Thanks so much!

Hello community, This is the first time I have had a problem using a table-join between two sets of data whereby the resulting join lacks the values in each row from one of the tables despite loading in the columns properly. I have two files, LineNetwork_Whole and modechoice_network as shown below. Shown here, they both have the linkId field. The LineNetwork_Whole file is a line feature class that I want to hold the mode-split values from the modechoice_network.csv table. This was how I setup the table join. However, the resulting attribute table shows the following : This image was the exported line feature class after the table join, though, the table join itself was the same. The LinkId matches and if referenced against the modechoice_network.csv it shows that LinkId-2 should have a total of 2 cars. Instead all values that should hold some number of vehicle choices are shown as zero. I made sure to format the cells in Excel as number and there are no known special characters in the data set. I really am at a loss! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just recently begun having this issue and it has come to my attention that a file within my catalog window may be corrupt -- I have no idea how that could have happened but I chose to manually remove the bulk of my resource-dump folder into subsections to try and isolate the issue. Now the resources folder only has feature classes (shape, point, line) and still crashes. The file size is about 183 Mb. The other file folders--the ones created to troubleshoot the problem, all open fine, however, when I try and load any of the csv files from this folder it also crashes. Now I have a resources and CSV folder that are crashing Arcmap. One crashes Arcmap when the folder is opened and the other crashes it when trying to pull the file into the work space. Side note, some suggestions for a fix revolve around the use of ArcCatalog. It wont open for me. What on earth is going on here! I looked in the %appdata%->Esri folder for a crash log and no dice. Edit 1 - Arcmap seems to be crashing when I try and do almost anything now. I just recently went to the geoprocessing tab to look up the Add Data Tool as a suggested workaround in another thread. It then froze for a while and crashed. My CPU is at 2% load and my memory is at 40% so I'm not sure that its a computer resources problem. Edit 2 - I think I know what I did wrong. I recently removed the python27 folder mistakenly assuming that it wasn't part of the Arcmap directory -- I was upgrading to another python version to utilize python-pandas library. I went to uninstall, chose uninstall, then repair. This seems to have re-installed the python27 folder in the right folder directory (which I now know was the Arcmap directory). Seems to be working!

Robert, I think I was overthinking the whole issue. While it is both embarrassing and disheartening I think I found what I needed in a youtube tutorial on how to create a grid. I think ultimately this will be the best choice. Thanks so much!
