The search functionality for GIS content (maps, apps, data) in ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS should be accent insensitive (if searching for "zlutoucky" the search should return the same results as searching for "žluťoučký", and vice versa). As a workaround, we have to specify metadata (tags) for content with and without the accent which is inefficient.

Hi Justin, Thank you for the tip using the AD LDS. As I understand this, the AD LDS will be the central repository of users and groups which will be replicated from Domain A and Domain B. ArcGIS for Server will use the AD LDS as the identity provider. Using this AD LDS, do you think it should be possible to use the Integrated Windows Authentication instead of Token authentication to authenticate users of ArcGIS for Server? Thanks, Matej

Hi Justin, Sorry for the delay but I was gathering more information about the underlying configuration. The configuration is as follows: Domain A and Domain B are not in the same domain forest. Eeach domain serves as a global catalog for themselves. There is one way selective trust between Domain A and Domain B. Is there any way how to use this configuration with ArcGIS for Server? Thanks, Matej

Hi Justin, Yes, we configured ArcGIS Server to use the AGSMembershipProvider.AGSADMembershipProvider and AGSMembershipProvider.AGSADRoleProvider according the web help. However, having done that, we still cannot login to ArcGIS Server using credentials from the second domain. Let me describe our configuration. We have AGS running in domain A. Users from domain A can login to ArcGIS Server (using either Windows authentication or the membership and role providers mentioned above). We have domain B and we need to allow users from domain B to login to ArcGIS Server. So we created group A in domain A with nested group B from domain B. Users from domain B which need access to ArcGIS Server are members of group B which is member of group A. Using this configuration, users from domain B still cannot login to ArcGIS Server. Thanks, Matej

Hi, We have ArcGIS Server 10.2.1 now and it should support nested groups and domain forest since version 10.2. We have tried the configuration with nested groups, but did not succeed. What is the recommended configuration to allow logins to ArcGIS Server 10.2.1 from multiple domains? Thanks, Matej

Hi, According the documentation (http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/0154/01540000067t000000.htm), AGS 10.2 should support logins from multiple domains using Active Directory nested groups. We have AGS 10.2 running in Domain A. There is Domain B in the same domain forest as Domain A. We need to access AGS services as users from Domain A and Domain B. We have created group in Domain A with nested group from Domain B. However, after configuring AGS security using AGSMembershipProvider.AGSADMembershipProvider and AGSMembershipProvider.AGSADRoleProvider, we cannot login to AGS Services Directory as users from Domain B. Does anybody have this working? Thanks, Matej

As we did not find any way how to use encrypted passwords, we ended with converting the database with passwords into hashed format. Matej

Hi, We are migrating AGS security from 10 to 10.2 version. In AGS 10, we are using SQL Server database with Encrypted passwords (not Hashed) as identity provider. After setting this SQL Server database as identity provider in AGS 10.2, we are unable to validate passwords and create new users. This is the User Store Configuration: { "type": "SQL_SERVER", "properties": { "passwordFormat": "Encrypted", "applicationName": "esriags", "connectionString": "Data Source={HOSTNAME}\\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog={DBNAME};Integrated Security=SSPI" } } Creating new user throws this error message: "You must specify a non-autogenerated machine key to store passwords in the encrypted format. Either specify a different passwordFormat, or change the machineKey configuration to use a non-autogenerated decryption key." Is there any way how to set machineKey in AGS 10.2? Thanks, Matej

Hi, I am using IdentityManager to handle token authentication in my SL application. The application is calling custom SOE thru ArcGISWebClient class, which ensures the authentication challenge on IdentityManager. However, the IdentityManager seems to append '&' character at the end of the URL of the SOE call. This causes the following error on the SOE: {"error":{"code":500,"message":"An unexpected error occurred processing the request.","details":[]}} You can test this on public ElevationsSOE: Correct request: http://sampleserver4.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Elevation/ESRI_Elevation_World/MapServer/exts/ElevationsSOE?f=json Incorrect request: http://sampleserver4.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Elevation/ESRI_Elevation_World/MapServer/exts/ElevationsSOE?f=json& Have you anybody encountered this issue? Thanks, Matej

I have found a bug in snapping functionality with the following error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at com.esri.ags.tools::DrawTool/checkForSnapping() at com.esri.ags.tools::DrawTool/map_mouseMoveFirstHandler() Yes, the version of ArcGIS API for Flex is 2.4. This problem occurs if there is any Graphic object with null geometry in any GraphicsLayer in the Map. If this happens, the snapping does not work. You can reproduce this problem using MXML attached. Hi, There is FeatureLayerDetails.types property to get subtypes for the layer. If the FeatureLayer is created from MapServer's layer (with geodatabase subtypes specified), the FeatureLayerDetails.types property is null. If the FeatureLayer is created from FeatureServer's layer (the same layer with subtypes), the FeatureLayerDetails.types property contains types of the layer's symbology categories and not the geodatabase subtypes. How to get the geodatabase subtypes for the layer in ArcGIS Flex API? Thanks, Matej
