Thanks for the suggestion. After I posted my question, I started thinking that a custom JavaScript function might be the only way. Fortunately, I've written a couple of JS functions in Survey123. Looking at the Survey123 formulas, I noticed regex(). I think that it may work to remove CR and LF characters from the input. I'd also like to remove leading and trailing spaces. I need to review regular expressions. It might be easier to write a JS function.

Is there a way to prevent new line characters in a text question? The results of my survey are eventually placed in a pipe-separated text file. Having new lines (or CRLFs) in a delimited text file really messes things up. I thought using an input filter or possibly changing the keyboard to hide the return key. Thanks.

Using the ObjectID seemed like the best approach. I don't need an exact sequence. I just can't have the field data ever change. Using the following works great. Thanks for your help. f'COB{100 + !objectid!}' A co-worker and I also discovered that the following (older style Python) also works: 'COB' + str(100 + !objectid!) Thanks, Chuck

Joe, Thank you very much for your response. I appreciate it. I had to fix some other issues in Survey123. I'll look into your suggestions within the next few days. Thanks, Chuck

I have a Survey123 form that will be used several times a day by over a hundred users. Every record (survey submitted) in my feature layer needs a unique ID. It isn't easy to ensure unique numbers in Survey123. I want to populate the Unique_ID field with COB1, COB1, COB2, and so on. (I prefer that the starting number is 100). Once a record is set, I can't change it again (it may have been exported). I think that a calculated field could be scheduled to run daily in ArcGIS Pro. (I don't entirely know how to do that.) I'm using AcrGIS Pro 2.6 on Windows 10. To start the sequence, I would need to count the number of non-null (or not empty string) values in the Unique_ID field. I'm new to ArcGIS Pro and Python. I wrote the code below from this example: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/tool-reference/data-management/calculate-field-examples.htm rec=0 def autoIncrement(): global rec pStart = 1 pInterval = 1 if (rec == 0): rec = pStart else: rec += pInterval textRec = "COB" + str(rec) return textRec To get the starting value of the sequence, I would need to count all non-empty fields (not null or not empty string). I think that this post shows how to do that: https://community.esri.com/thread/224234-field-calculator-for-not-null-fields. I'm trying to put this all together. Am I on the right track? Again, I'm new to ArcGIS Pro and Python. Thanks, Chuck

I renamed the title of my survey in ArcGIS Online. This worked fine and even allowed me to download an updated survey from the field app. This was a name (title) change only and without republishing the survey. The next time I published the survey from Survey123 Connect, the title reverted to the old title. I realized that I must rename the title from Survey123 Connect then re-publish. This works fine and the survey is now renamed in ArcGIS Online. I think this might be a bug but, I'm not sure.

A case has been created. I sent Esri Tech Support the log files and XLSForm. They were able to reproduce the issue. Hopefully, a work-around or fix will be found relatively soon. In the meantime, I'll ask my users to use the iPhone to avoid the issue. Thanks.

Thanks for your response. I've had the log file files since last Friday. Apparently, I don't have permissions to create a case which seems to be required for me to report a bug. I made a request for those permissions, reached out to our local admin, and contacted our solution engineer. Hopefully, I'll be able to send in my log files soon. Thanks.

Hi Ismael, I just realized that I was using Survey123 field app version 3.10.323 and Survey123 Connect version 3.10.239. This is on my desktop Windows machine. The previous version numbers were incorrect. I was using my laptop to type the email. I no longer use that machine for Survey123 work. The crashes are still happening on v3.10 for both the field app and Connect.

I created a test survey to try out the geopoint question and do some geocoding. Using the field app, it works fine on iOS, but constantly crashes on Windows (version 3.7.57). This happens on multiple Windows machines. Opening the survey in Survey123 Connect (version 3.7.62) on Windows also crashes frequently. I can avoid that crash by first opening a survey without the geopoint question, then when I open my test survey, there's no crash. Are these known bugs? Or, is there something about my configuration? Thanks.

I have a dashboard that shows the results of a Survey123 form. One question is Age? with an integer result. What is the best way to display a Series Chart with different age ranges. For example, for simplicity, 0-9, 10-14, 15-18, 19-24, and 25+. I could add a new "ageRange" field in the survey for with the following calculation: if(${age} <= 9,1,if(${age} >= 10 and ${age} <= 14,2,if(${age} >= 15 and ${age} <= 18,3,if(${age} >= 19 and ${age} <= 19,4,5)))) Then, the dashboard would use integer values: 1: 0-9, 2:10-14, 3: 15-18, 4: 19-24, and 5: 25+. There must be a better way! Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I be asking this question in a different forum? Thanks, Chuck

Jake, Thanks for your response. I've given this more thought. I think that I need the option of showing percentages for each individual ethnicity. I expect thousands of responses. Given that there are 7 possible answers, there could be 25, 50, or 100 different combinations. This would make it challenging or impossible to add the correct labels as well. I think that my only option is to add 7 calculated fields to my survey (hidden from the user) to keep totals for each individual response. Then, in my dashboard show those 7 fields in a serial or pie chart. I may need to break it down by gender as well. Do you think that will work? Thanks, Chuck

I'm very new to dashboards. I'm creating my first dashboard from the results of a Survey123 form. The survey has some demographic data. For the ethnicity question, one or more values from the following list can be selected: 1 = Asian 2 = Black/African American 3 = Hispanic/Latino(a) 4 = Middle Eastern or South Asian 5 = Native American 6 = Pacific Islander 7 = White The result of this ethnicity question is a string of values separated by a comma ",". Here are some examples: 3 2,3 7 1,2,3 4 How can I show the results in a serial or pie chart? I'm not sure how to accurately depict the answers to ethnicity question. Most graphs I've seen show the totals for each ethnicity and don't attempt depict multiple values in one answer. I'm trying to find out my options with dashboard as well as best practices to depict these data.
