This is for ArcGIS Pro add-in development using Csharp .NET. What is the public, supported way to access the selected or right-clicked table or feature class in the Catalog pane from a context menu button? Is there a public API to retrieve the selected item(s) in the Catalog pane context menu handler? Are there any best practices or workarounds for obtaining the path or reference to the right-clicked item? Internal interfaces like ICatalogPane and IProjectWindow are not accessible—are there alternatives? Any guidance or code samples would be appreciated. Thank you!

I attended a service enablement session with Esri PS, a lot of people asked the same question, the answer from Esri team was that "it's possible, but highly not recommended". @tigerwoulds I like your approach, fail safe, I am glade you had the time to allow for your solution.

Thanks @JustinMallinckrodt for sharing the GitHub page, I didn't have that before, I always go to the GitHub repo. We are trying to choose the best available method to automate Enterprise upgrades, we are anticipating to get a lot of these from our clients. A lot of these deployments are done either manually, few were built using other automation tools. We are doing a lot of POCs to prove that we can upgrade such deployments safely using the DSC module, hence my question in the post. We were able to upgrade an Enterprise (using the DSC) that was originally deployed using Enterprise builder on a single machine. We are still trying to cover more complex scenarios. Something else we are trying to discover, could be another question, if we use the DSC module to deploy or upgrade an Enterprise that relies on load balancers instead of web adaptors. Any insights in these areas are really appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, Has anyone tried to upgrade an ArcGIS Enterprise (that is deployed manually or using Enterprise Builder) by the DSC PowerShell module?

sorry for the late response. WebGISDR in version 10.6.1 doesn't sound appealing, we had many issues with this tool in earlier versions of Enterprise like 10.6.1, also this version is retired, not sure how to source the install package or valid licenses.

Hello, We are working on a project involving a migration from ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.1 to 10.9.1. We plan to use Python for the migration process. Can the ArcGIS Python API be leveraged for this scenario? Specifically, does it support cloning items from version 10.6.1 and handle creating the items correctly in the 10.9.1 environment? Any insights or documentation references would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

HI @KoryKramer , Valuable post, thanks for putting it together, easy to follow and use as a guide. I have a question which I believe is related to the topic. For an editing workflow through a feature service, and the whole ArcGIS Enterprise deployment is on a cloud, including the database, does the Pro user still need to be within proximity with the database? An an example for what I mean by "within proximity": to use a virtual machine within the same network of the database. Or the user can just use their own machine which is not on the cloud? In this scenario, the editing is happening on a single or a couple of features at a time. Another follow up: in case of bulk update/insert or hundreds of features, for the same setup as above, does the Pro user need to be within proximity with the database? Thanks, Ihab

Hi @RolandWilson , Before the new year, I booked the exam for the 25th Jan, unfortunately I got a notification today that the exam has been cancelled. I tried to book the exam again but I am unable to do so. I am aware that there is a time frame for booking the exam, but not for taking it, and I believe you confirmed that in your response above. I am keen on taking the exam so that I would be eligible for getting into the SME program. Is there a chance to book the exam even before 25th Jan if that is required?

Hi Anbin, Thanks for your response. The requirements that I mentioned are coming from this doco page here: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/windows/overview-disaster-recovery-replication.htm. As mentioned there, one of the configuration items that needs to be identical across deployments when running the WebGISDR is 'Account credentials for the ...webgisdr.properties file'. So, in my question, I meant portaladmin/siteadmin accounts, apologies if that was not clear enough. I guess you answered my question though, so thanks again.

Hello Esri Community, I have a question regarding a requirement related to the WebGIS Disaster Recovery (WebGISDr) tool, specifically concerning the 'webgisdr.properties' file. One of the requirements mentioned is the need to have the same account credentials in this file. Does this imply that we are required to maintain identical usernames and passwords across both the source and target ArcGIS Enterprise environments? I would appreciate clarification on this requirement to ensure our WebGISDr setup is in compliance.

Dear Esri Community, I have a question regarding the WebGIS Disaster Recovery (WebGISDr) tool and the requirement for registered databases in the source and target ArcGIS Enterprise environments. In our source ArcGIS Enterprise environment, we have several registered databases, and their names include a random generated suffix like 'ds_jkjsdfkh'. Please note that these databases were registered with Enterprise from the Portal, not via the ArcGIS Server manager. One of the WebGISDr requirements is that the target and source Enterprise environments should have the same list of registered data stores (other than ArcGIS Datastores). My question is whether the specific name of the registered database (including the random suffix) is crucial for this requirement, or if the primary factors for compatibility are the database connection details such as the database name, host server name, and user credentials. Your insights and guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
