When the screen on my tablet turns off (just the screen, not the whole tablet) while I'm downloading offline data, it gets "stuck". The map download will not complete. Collector indicates that the download is complete, but there's still a "download in progress" icon in the action bar, and when I click on the map, it says that the map failed to download. When I try to delete the saved map (by going to "Manage" and deleting it), Collector crashes. It doesn't give me an error message, it just says "Collector has stopped". I tried logging out of my account, and also uninstalling/reinstalling the app, and it still happens. There's no way to delete this seemingly-corrupted data once it's downloaded incorrectly. I set my tablet so that the screen never turns off unless I turn it off myself, but I can't do anything with this map now because I can't get the corrupted data off of it.

I created a bunch of points and a few polygons offline. When I got back to WiFi, I tried to sync them, and got the message "Sync error: An error occurred while synchronizing edits." When I click Show Details, it says "Synctools service error.Could not service request." I checked our web map just in case it was working, but it doesn't show any of the points that I collected. I'm using Collector for ArcGIS version 18.0.3 on an Android tablet (ZenPad Z8s), android version 7.0. But I'm having this problem with multiple tablets.

I have several shapefiles that I want to merge together into one shapefile so I don't have to keep juggling them all. However, I can't use the Merge geoprocessing tool because it gives me a "001156: Failed on input OID; could not write value to output field TXPYRS_NAME" error. This seems to be because each shapefile has a different length for TXPYRS_NAME. But when I go into ArcCatalog and try to change the field length in the Shapefile Properties window from 15 to 35 to match the other shapefiles, it says "Unable to alter field's length". Another GeoNet user says it's impossible to change the field length for a feature class that already contains data. So how am I supposed to merge these files if the field lengths are different and unchangeable...?

I'm using ArcGIS 10.6.1 on Windows 10. I work from home using a VPN to connect to my university's network. It's been nearly impossible to open any dialog boxes. For instance, I frequently use the Layer to KML tool, but the program hangs when I open it. The dialog box pops up, but then it never populates with any fields and I'm left with a white box. I have to shut down all of ArcMap and restart. No error messages or anything. I've left it running for a full half hour and it never resumes. Here's what it looks like: Even when I copy all the relevant files locally and do the same thing, it still freezes. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Thanks for the response. Turning off the terrain didn't help-- I think the reason for the spotty line that you mentioned is just because I had a weird Google Earth symbology ("filled + outlined"). Also, the Clamped To Ground option was already enabled. But stopping editing and restarting my MXD file fixed the problem. (Just stopping editing didn't fix it-- I had to completely shut down all Arc-related processes and re-run the script when I reopened the file.) Hopefully this helps anyone who is also having this problem!

I'm trying to convert a vector layer to a KML file. Here's what the layer looks like in ArcMap-- as you can see, it has multiple polygons: Here's my code: import arcpy
arcpy.env.workspace = r'C:\\username\\folder'
mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument(r"PreHex272.mxd")
lyr = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers(mxd)[0]
arcpy.LayerToKML_conversion(lyr, "kml_tests.kmz") But it only outputs one small polygon in Google Earth: I do not have any polygons selected. In fact, I tried selecting a different polygon and got the same result. I tried selecting all polygons and got the same result. I also tried restarting Google Earth, with no luck. I'm using ArcGIS Desktop 10.6.1 on Windows 7. Thanks in advance! (Hopefully this is the right place to post-- I'm still getting used to picking which GeoNet "community" to post in. Sorry if this is not the correct location.)

Sorry, I am new to this and had a hard time figuring out which place to put this in. There were so many different places and this is the closest one I could find that fit my needs. I did not see the "managing data" or "geodatabase" location. Thank you for sharing it for me!

I'm trying to export a feature class (saved locally) to a GDB (on a server) in ArcCatalog. Half the time ArcCatalog hangs when I try to export it-- just right-clicking the feature class and clicking Export to GDB results in ArcCatalog not responding for at least five minutes. This continues over and over (picking output location, entering the name, etc.) until I finally click "OK" to export it. Then it hangs, again, for at least ten minutes. The most recent one I did still has not completed its export. The feature class is very small (a vector polygon, so only about 500 kb) so I am not sure why it is taking that long. My connection is also very good. Is there a way to speed this up? I am on Windows 10 64-bit and using ArcCatalog 10.6

When trying to export a map as an MPK, ArcMap gets stuck at "Preparing Data (Folder Size 0KB)". I have tried a couple different MXDs and they all have this problem. I am working off a server with a not-so-great connection, but the connection isn't that bad. Any thoughts on what could be causing this? There are only 2 layers, 1 raster and 1 vector. Vector is v small, raster is about 1.7 GB. Maybe it is just that the files are too big, but I've let it run for twenty minutes now and it has not changed...
