I created a StoryMap site and the front page gives you the opportunity to add a background image or a video. The page doesn't allow for an external web link like a youtube video, but you can upload a video file like an mp4 but are limited in file size. I modified the video file to accommodate the file size and the video played like expected. However, whenever anyone tried opening the web app, they would get a login screen. I double checked all the files and apps to make sure they were set to public. However, they still got the login screen. I decided to remove the video in the opening screen and that solved the issue. So, my question is where does the video file get stored and how can I make it shareable. Thanks!

I fixed the issue. I learned that symbolizing your layers in ArcMAP prior to uploading your service can cause issues with the CrowdSource form. I changed my symbology to one simple shape for my layers and reloaded the service and that fixed the pull down menu issue. I changed my symbols in my online map and Wha La!!! All good.

I created a Geodatabase with different point layers and assigned domains to specific fields. In the domain menu I have the code and a description. As I understand it, the description is what drives the pull down menu in the form for CrowdSource Reporter. However, the pull down menu is showing the code and not the description. For example, the pull down menu displays "BikeConn" when it should read "Bike Connectivity" In the web map containing the layers, the descriptions display correctly in the table of contents, and when I add geography, the pull down menu choices are correct. This issue started after I updated my service. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help. Steve

I have a challenge I'm trying to figure out. Much of our different ArcMAP files are labeled F1_StudyArea.mxd, F2_RoadNetwork.mxd, etc. The "F1" represents the figure number in the report and the remaining name is the map title. I'd like to somehow use the dynamic text tool to read the F1_StudyArea.mxd file name and produce the following text in layout with specific formatting tags: Figure 1 Study Area The reason why I would like this function is the common figure number and title updates we go through. It would be easy to rename the mxd file and run a script to produce PDFs with updated figure numbers and names. Is this possible or pie in the sky? Thanks!

Hi Randy, We are not using OneDrive with ArcGIS. We have users that are testing virtual machines and WorkSpot as a potential solution. I'm not sure what the performance has been so far. We are suppose meet soon and see what the results are. Thanks for checking. Steve.

The Snap Tool will snap points or vertices to coincide with an edge. So I feel that tool would do the job. If you have the "avenue" attribute assigned to the points, select the "avenue" attributes and create a new feature class of avenue points and snap them to the centerline. For the other points you can set a distance tolerance in the snap process. I hope this helps. Steve

Hi Sibel, If I understand correctly, you want to identify locations where routes overlap and sum the total trips at those locations. Without writing code to create a process, you might want to consider the following steps: Use the intersect tool and intersect routes. In the output type option, choose point. This will create a point at the intersecting locations where routes cross. Use Split Line at point tool. This will split the routes at locations they intersect. The end result will be matched overlapping segments The final step may be performed in a couple ways. Possibly a spatial join to associate IDs at overlapping segments that can allow you to join data together and summarize your trips. I hope this is helpful. Steve.

Thanks Karsten. In my continued research that's what I thought but this is my hang up. The PDF is stored in AGOL and I copied the URL to see the path. As I understand it, I would enter http://<server>.maps.arcgis.com/sharing/rest/content/items/{field name} in the popup configuration. However, I get nothing. Is that correct or am I still missing something? Thanks!

I created several (150) PDFs from data driven pages and I want to store them in ArcGIS Online and link them to a point layer. However, I have found that I had to copy the PDF URL and paste it in a field used for the hyperlink in the point layer. Through the pop-up configuration I would point it to the field storing the PDF URL and WhaLa!, the PDF opened. However, I don't want to do this for every PDF and rather automate this some how. Is there a way to calculate the link into the hyperlink field? Any assistance is very appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks George for the reply and questions. The VMs would be for Desktop/Pro. The VM would potentially be through Amazon. The data would be on a separate server with a Panzura using rack space on the Amazon site which will give the VM connection to our data.

We are an AEC company that is looking into Virtual Machine (VM) technology and I'm curious to learn more from user experience, hardware and software used, and cost. Currently we have some satellite users copying files locally because their connection to the network is slow. We are hoping to find a VM solution to keep users on the network and avoid data replication. Any advice, stories, and experiences are certainly welcome and helpful. Thanks!

I have a linear reference challenge that I'm trying to solve. I have a road layer with an LRS system and I have several tables designed to map different road characteristics. For example, I have a table for shoulders and it has fields for shoulder type and width. Another table is for medians with a field for width and type. Ultimately the different tables produce multiple line layers for each characteristic and they all overlap. Attached you will see a diagram I created that explains my end goal. What I want to produce is a single line layer that is segmented whenever the road characteristic changes between the different road characteristic line layers. My thought is I need to combine all the tables into one table but the From and To fields have duplicates which still create overlapping lines. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help. Steve
