Right now there is nothing on the homepage except the organization name and a background picture that I changed. I wanted to add some of our maps so that when I logged in I could launch them from the homepage. I'm not connected to through VPN, I've logged in on different networks, different devices, incognito mode, all of that and the same issue. I've never worked with the developer console, but I wouldn't think I would need it. This is a brand new homepage with nothing added, and currently I can't add anything because of this issue.

Field Maps does look to be my best option. I just created a test project and went out to collect centerlines, address points, fire hydrants, and landing zones for helicopters, and everything seems to work really well. I believe this will be our solution. I did try the address management solution in ArcGIS Solutions and it is great, but unfortunately we couldn't use it in our environment since some of our roads are not addressed using the addressing standard that has been set for public safety. We have legacy roads where the numbering is not correct currently and using that solution would address points "Correctly" but they would be incorrect based on the current addresses already in place. (It's easier to leave it alone instead of trying to get people to correct their address 🙂 ) Thank you Ryan for your help!

Hello all, I just purchased an ArcGIS Professional license through my organization to start assisting in the GIS administration. I work for a 911 center, and we are currently using a Windows 7 Laptop with ArcPad to collect our road and address data. We started looking at ArcGIS online about a year ago to use with mobile phones and tablets. I have the organizational account setup and I’ve started playing with Survey123 and Quick Capture. I built a survey and used it to collect points which could be used for address point collection, but I was unable to figure out how to use Survey123 to collect centerline data. I would need to be able to record tracks while driving a car to collect the centerline data. I was however able to capture trail or track data using quick capture and a template for running a trail or something like that. It allowed me to record while I was driving, and I could then see that data back at the office with ArcGIS pro. I’ve been out of the GIS game full time since 2014. I still dabble in it, but this had been my first quick capture project, survey123 and use of ArcGIS pro. I’m just curious on recommendation for capturing point and line data in the field. The employee who will be collecting most of the data currently brings her laptop into the office after collecting the data, exports the shape files to a USB drive, imports them into ArcMap on her desktop, and then loads those shapefiles into ArcMap. From there she does not join the data she simply edits her current point file and drops new points overtop of the shapefile that she collected in the field and does the same for her centerlines. I would say she will continue to do this the way she has always done this, but she does like the idea of going in the field, capturing data, and that data showing up on ArcMap without her having to do anything. She can then either join it or draw overtop of it, or what ever she pleases. I don’t know if there is a simpler way then doing this the quick capture and survey123 method. I’m also having issues with her being able to delete the points and lines from ArcMap. I believe that may be a permissions issue, but I can work on that later. Any suggestions on better methods or better apps for this? Thanks!

I know it's been a long time since I posted on this thread. I ended up going with icograms. They have templates you can use and if you pay you can export high quality maps. Thanks everyone.

I'm trying to get an organizational home page setup and when I go into "edit homepage / Content Blocks / Add Blocks / Item Gallery" I get the spinning circle on the left side and nothing ever pops up to let me add items. I've cleared my cache, tried 3 different browsers, and tried incognito mode in chrome. I'm still having the issue. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

The reason it was showing a public account was because I needed to go into My ESRI and under the licenses / ArcGIS Online I needed to activate the license. I then had to have ESRI generate a link where I could convert my public account into an organizational account. I did this all via the chat support. I'm now in and have no issues. Thanks everyone!

I purchased the GIS professional license today through my organization, created a new public account in ArcGIS Online, and had my organization administrator to send me an invite to join the organization. I received an email inviting me to join "My ESRI", but after joining, and signing in to mobile map maker and to Survey 123 I'm getting an error message stating I can't use a public account to sign in. Any ideas? Same issue when logging into ArcGIS Pro.

That's the part I don't understand. It's an organizational account that we paid for. I figure this needs to be it's own topic now since I've crossed over into another issue. I will repost this in the forum to see if anyone has any advice. Thanks!

Hello @AndreasHall Sorry for the lateness of this reply, but I've been trying to get everything finalized so that I can get the changes made to my account. I have an additional question. My organization is going to have an ArcGIS Professional license for me so that I can administer the account and have a desktop version to do my edits. We also have a mobile map maker who will be collecting data in the field. I have an additional organization that wants access to edit and view the maps I administer with mobile map maker. We can't add them to our account. If they setup an organizational account will they need a creator and map maker account to go out in the field and edit data, or can they use the creator account to collect and edit data in the field?

Looking at the differences in Creator and GIS Professional Basic it looks like there are only two differences that may impact me. Creator states "What's included: ArcGIS Online with the ability to Create, edit, and manage content and members". That wording is not on the GIS Professional Basic user details. Would I still be able to create, edit, and manage content and members with the GIS professional basic user type?

Hello all, I've read several posts on here about the question I'm asking but there's a lot of terminology on the ArcGIS Online side that I'm not familiar with (sounds like different user roles) so I wanted to ask the question my own way. I've been out of the GIS field for around 5 years now and I've never used ArcGIS Pro. The last version of ArcGIS I used was 10. something. The organization I work for is slowly pulling me back in to the GIS work I used to perform so I'm wanting to transition us to ArcGIS Online. I've had a free account for years where I play around and make different things, but I'm now needing a full blown ArcGIS Online account where I can have Creators, Viewers, Mobile Workers, and editors. I'm looking for myself to be the creator account, 2 individuals to be mobile worker accounts do they can use Survey123 and go out to collect field data, an editor account for another entity that does not do mobile data collection but o=would instead work on things from the office, and maybe a couple viewer accounts. I will be creating a lot of the data at first and will be working with old shape files that I have and manipulating data on my workstation, so I'm wanting to use ArcGIS and everyone tells me to start using ArcGIS Pro since I've been without GIS for 5 years. I guess instead of relearning ArcMap just learn ArcGIS Pro. Does buying an ArcGIS Online account guarantee me a license to use ArcGIS Pro? I believe I will be the only person needing it, but I was curious if the different account types (Creator, Mobile Worker, Viewer, Editor) came with particular desktop licenses. Thanks everyone!

I was at a conference over the weekend and talked to a few contractors who did advise that this was frowned on at ESRI. They do indeed want each agency to purchase their own account and then a single point of contact can be used to develop the applications. I found out about a different product called mango and was told this could be used for what I'm wanting to do. I can use my ESRI Desktop license to create the files for the agencies and then put the data into mango and charge individuals for application development. Thanks for the info!

Hello all, I currently work doing IT, but have a degree in GIS and do GIS on the side. Mostly creating data sets for government agencies and cartography work. I've recently been asked by several local government about doing GIS contract work for them, and what they all seem to want is online mapping applications. I've created tons of web maps using ArcGIS explorer online and have used ArcGIS online for one organization years ago, but my question is, if I have multiple agencies wanting me to do this and they all want me to handle the accounts would it be advisable for me to handle all agencies under one account. What I'm asking is, can I myself as a contractor have an account in which I pay a fee for, and then charge agencies a fee for creating and hosting their applications under my account? Since each agency only wants 2 or 3 maps it seems like it would be cheaper if I consolidated all the maps under one account, but also would ArcGIS online be the solution for this or something else. Also could each agency have a their own user account so when they logged in they would have access to only their applications? Thanks!
