I had the honor of creating the American Literature collection. I am so thrilled that these resources continue to make a difference in classrooms around the world. Seeing GIS used in the not-so-traditionally-geographic humanities makes me happy, and validates the flexible nature of geospatial technologies to enhance and illuminate instruction across disciplines. So we have created this very simple web app for young students, https://geoport.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=b2a600044ded4d07a0beee6db671f291 We want anyone to be able to open the page and use the directions widget. According to this, https://doc.arcgis.com/en/web-appbuilder/create-apps/widget-directions.htm You can give public access (use your credits) to the directions widget (used in web app). See https://doc.arcgis.com/en/web-appbuilder/create-apps/attributes-tab.htm What link should be added to make this work? ArcGIS Online Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS

Ellen, I'd try moving the photos from your icloud to flikr. I'd bet that they have the geotags embedded into the photos metadata. Story maps is good at reading things from flikr. Heidi, Indeed I have! I used it with Survey123, the crowdsource story map and snap2map. It's a great way to show how to get a "GPS" experience with just a phone. It's a "think starter" for teachers to connect with possible ideas in their own setting.

One way to get this feeling is to use the crowdsource story map. It allows folks to add images and some text and see the results live. If you get a little creative you can have folks give valid data input, even though the tool is image driven. For example, I had students take a photo and the text input needed to be a haiku. For science, perhaps students photo a sample and respond to prescribed questions in the text area. It's great for a teacher group to do a scavenger hunt of ideas too. You have to think "outside the map" but get folks involved and thinking. Survey123 gives good ways to collect data.
