I have a DEM generated from Lidar (tens of gigabytes in size) even when cropping it down to the minimum required size, which makes it a beast to work with and reducing resolution isn't an option. I am using the Add Surface Information tool to calculate mean Z values for a grid (hundreds of thousands of polygons), and the tool takes days to complete its run even on a fairly robust computer (12 core 3.5 Ghz, 64 Gb RAM, all data is on an SSD drive). Is three a faster/more efficient way to get this done?

I sometimes need to deal with large and complex Access databases and other external sources (excel spreadsheets and the like) that contain data I need to cross reference with feature classes and shapefiles I have in ArcGIS. Ideally, I would like to be able to operate with data in ArcGIS the way I can in Access (querying between datasets, updating referenced information in one location rather then several, etc.) I know geodatabases with in advanced license allow for that sort of functionality within the geodatabase, and the description for the data interoperability extension says you can import directly from sources like Access. My question is, however, is there a particular extension or set of tools that allows you to essentially link information (using table relationships or other methodology) between a geodatabase and an Access database (or other external information source) so that a change made to the data in ArcGIS will be reflected in Access, and vice versa. Right now I end up juggling a bunch of customized python codes and other methods that are cumbersome and time consuming to update, so I’m keen to know if a clean tool for this kind of work already exists. Thanks!

Note that I have checked, the raster produced by the Maximal LIkelihood tool is in fact single band, and isn't 32 bit, so again, not sure what the trouble is.

I'm trying to run a 3-band (CIR) raster file through a supervised image classification process, but am running into problems with post processing and the Majority Filter tool; I selected my training areas, defined classes, and ran the Maximal Likelihood Classification tool from the Image Classification toolbar. It generated a new raster that uses a "Stretched" color ramp. I attempted build a an attribute table for it, but this failed for reasons unknown (no error message, it just didn't work). I tried to run the Majority Filter tool, and after about twenty minutes of crunching it spat out an error 010419: Unable to build the attribute table. I have run into this problem before, namely that when I use the Maximal Likelihood tool to make a raster, it seems unable of accommodating an attribute table. My understanding is that the output of the Maximal Likelihood tool is specifically supposed to be formatted to work with post-processing tools like Majority filter, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I have a shape file with a series of line segments that are discontinuous, I want to join them together so they form a continuous line based on a common attribute from the attribute table. I already understand how to merge the lines using Merge in the editing tool bar, but I'm not clear on if there is a way to get those segments to link up as shown in the image below (I have the broken lines on top, I want the continuous line below) without manually snapping them together point by point, as it is a large file with numerous such segments. Is there a tool in ArcGIS that can do this? Thanks. (Note: I've seen some other postings mention the Dissolve tool, but I don't see how it applies here).
