Hi I am trying to create a graduate color quantities symbology for a string field in my attribute table but in the drop down menu it doesn't show up. If I go to categories>unique values it shows up in the drop down of the field values. Does anyone know why? Or what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks

Hmmm, it's been awhile (4 years)...I believe I sent it to Ian and he was able to make it work.  If I remember correctly he may have simply copied and pasted it into another file.  Sorry that's probably not much help, it was a long time ago.

Thank you though. It just worked for me too. I saved my excel as a csv with numeric fields and it worked fine.

Thanks again!

I am also having this problem.  I have joined a CSV file to my shapefile.  It has a large number of columns all of which I can see in the attribute table.  Use of the quantities category in Symbology works fine for the majority of columns.  But, it is not accessible for columns with the word crafts in the field name.  I have tried making the csv file numeric with no effect.  Can anyone help?
