11.2 upgrade instant apps config won't come up

Hello - I just upgraded to 11.2 from 11.1 and now my Instant apps configuration page will not display instant app choices. What can I do?

My existing sidebar apps configured at 11.1 will not display the sidebar info panel and I cannot update them. The configuration choice from the app overview page just spins?

Any of you guys have any suggestions:

Have you tried using inprivate mode for your browser. Sounds, at first pass, like a caching issue.

In an earlier upgrade, I had added the following to the

\arcgisportal\db\pg_hba.conf file:

*Added a config setting to \arcgisportal\db\pg_hba.conf file:

# TYPE DATABASE USER ADDRESS METHOD

host all all ::1/128 scram-sha-256

I did not add this param to the pg_hba file when going from 11.1 to 11.2

Could that be it?

Unfortunately I can't recall why I added that param in the first place, or when. Feels like maybe I added it going from 10.9.1 to 11.0

but not quite. It's not the Instant App page won't open, its that Portal 11.2 can't find the Instant App data per my Console log screen grab I posted above.

Sorry I've been in meetings all morning and struggling to catch up on project work. Is there any information in the network tab of developer tools, that suggests a resource is not loading or 404, 5xx errors etc. If you use InPrivate mode all the time, then it may not offer the normal value. What happens if you use Edge (or another) using the InPrivate mode?

No problem. If you look at my earlier reply with the dev console image, you will see that the Chrome console error says it can't find the Instant App Data from here:

I have tried in Edge, both in-private and standard, and in Chrome both incognito and standard.

I've got a case in with esri, but yes there are lots of 404s, mostly with Calcite components:

So I'm not a developer any more, but I believe a TS file is a TypeScript (JavaScript) file. If so then this has loaded, and it is the TS that is requesting 'the data'. The data will be requested as HTTPS request to the portal (most likely) and that's what we need to see in the Network Trace.

The console view shows what JavaScript function has failed. That will likely have failed because of a failed request to a URL/endpoint and that's what I can't see from screen grabs.

Yeah, the TypeScript is looking for resources that are not there, or did not install in a correct location perhaps. Although I am just getting started with esri support, it appears there are missing js files, nodemodules maybe more in at least 2 locations, instantgallery and sidebar.

When I try to config an existing app, the config template here

which is here:

C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Portal\apps\configure-template\app\ui\main\ConfigPanel\ConfigPanelViewModel.js

can't find other ts, js, and calcite

The install appeared clean and the Event Log only reports some setupmsi application hangs, which I could see anyway when the setup wizard would become unresponsive at the beginning of my install. There are no Carbon Black events, there are some Software Protection Program (SPP) 'start' events.

But I'm totally grasping at straws. It was a bad install, don't know why

I performed an upgrade late last year from 11.1 to 11.2 and had issues with the instant apps straight after.

After the upgrade, certain instant apps were no longer available in the instant apps screen. Not only that, if you had existing apps of the ones that were missing, they would no longer work or could be configured, they just ended up with a spinning wheel with a typescript error in the dev console.

The setting that causes this issue is 'enable external content', which is in the portal administrator site under System/Content/External Content.

With this set to true, all the instant apps show and allow configuration. When set to false, the issue occurs. ArcGIS11.1 instant apps work fine with this set to false.

I am not sure if this will assist with your instant app error though.

As for the the missing / moved sidebar, this is a bug (BUG-000163830) that ESRI have fixed in 11.3.

Thanks for the feedback @RRC_GISServices - interesting. For me, this setting is already set to Enabled: true.

However, when I try to set externalcontent>update Enabled: false, a 500 error is returned. So I don't know if it that is something or not.

And thank you for the info on the sidebar - as I'm sure you'd agree, it is difficult to track every thing we users report . . .

I also have lost my ability to configure or edit existing Instant Apps after upgrading from 10.9.1 to 11.2. I don't have basemap options anymore either. Help!

None so far @ThomasColson Support wants me to try and remove and then re-add the English language from portal admin with the idea being that upon an 'Add' our missing content may come back. Although it seems straightforward from the help, I don't know what to expect in terms of downtime, interruptions, or behavior.

I work with Tom and they are asking us to do the same thing, but making sure that we have good backups and potentially roll back to 10.9.1. We CAN NOT go there with the time spent upgrading! Our basemaps are also broken, btw. Please let us know how the English language "fix" goes.

I am happy to report that there is a solution to this! In working with support last night we were able to perform certain queries and updates to certain tables contained in the the portal gwdb, all via the postgres command line interface.

The updates will remove and then add languages, and upon completion of the workflow, the English language pack is fully available, thus enabling (for us) the Instant Apps template and config pages, as well as restoring Map Viewer Symbol symbol categories. I cannot speak to a re-gain of the Esri Basemaps content as we did not lose that part first reported here

I am not able to relay what we did exactly, but anyone affected by this should be able to work with their support analyst now to affect this repair.

Support cannot yet say whether the fix will be included as a patch for 11.2 now or as part of the 11.3 release (or both) - they just don't know yet.

FYI the Instant App issue for the Sidebar app does still exist, where the 'Sidebar' has become a "Footer' and the Filter tool is non-functional, and some other css issues, so looking forward to 11.3 for this fix, @KellyHutchins
