Setting correct coordinate system in a new point

When I look at the properties for our maps (especially our hydrography map) it reports the following:

WGS_1984_Web_Mercator_Auxiliary_Sphere
WKID: 3857 Authority: EPSG

So when I create a new point from latitude and longitude, do I then use new CoordinateSystem(3857)?

I evntually found the answer to my question.  The answer is yes, I set the value of the coordinate system to 3857.
