I see in Map Notes that a user has the ability to add polylines/gons and points. Is there a way to add text boxes? I may be overlooking a simple step, I apologize

I was kinda hoping there was a function where you can just click the standard A (text box symbol like in arcgisdesktop) and then type whatever you want to type.

Writing text like that is not possible.

it's possible in ArcGIS explorer online as a map note option (text). and I see Text in Map notes in ArcGIS Online as a Legend Item, but when you Edit Map Notes, the Text item is gone. sounds like another ESRI oversite, how about an enhancement guys?

I was wondering the same thing. Will the "Text" function under "Add Features/Map Notes" in Explorer Online also be available in the basic Map Viewer at some point in the future? Many of our staff prefer to use the Map Viewer because it does not require the Silverlight plug-in, but would also like to be able to add their own text annotation to the map.
