Hard vs soft breaklines

In theory, soft breaklines (and other soft surface feature types) are supposed not to change the surface dramatically when using a smooth interpolator, as opposed to hard ones. However, after comparing rasters using points + the same breaklines set as soft and hard , I just cannot see any differences between them. I've compared soft vs hard with elevations, soft vs hard with no elevations and across different regions with different density of points and slopes... still no differences between hard and soft.

Hard breaklines are supposed to "block" neighbor points when interpolating? Am I not seeing differences due to the distribution of points (Voronoi polygons) I'm using? In which case you get significant differences between rasters derived from soft or hard breaklines?

Thanks for your help.
