PyWin Install Problem

I am running Windows 7, 64-bit, ArcGIS 10.1 SP1.  I am trying to install PyWin32 in a Program Files 86, Python 2.7 subfolder and receive the following error message:

Close failed in the object destructor
sys.excepthook is missing
lost sys.stderr

Any suggestions?

I don't believe this is an ArcGIS specific problem, but this question on StackOverflow seems to have a solution.
