I've installed ArcGIS Server 10.1 SP1. The AGS authentication method is defined as Windows Active Directory for Users and Roles.  Before SP1, on a client machine I could connect via ArcCatalog to an AGS map service using a Windows domain account. After SP1 I am now having problems connecting.  If I define the URL as http://machine/arcgis/admin and enter a domain user name and password I get back a dialog to re-enter the login and password.  If I set the URL to http://machine:6080/arcgis/admin I get authenticated and see the list of map services, however, I CANNOT view the map services.

If I do the same using the ArcCatalog installed on the ArcGIS Server machine I see the opposite behavior with differences.  With http://machine/arcgis/admin I can connect, see the list of map services, AND can view the services.  If I use the URL http://machine:6080/arcgis/admin I can connect, see the list of map services, but CANNOT view the services.

ArcGIS Desktop is 10.1 SP1 on both the client and server machines.

The Web Adapter is configured to allow remote admin connections and is set to http://machine:6080

In IIS the 'arcgis' virtual folder has Windows Authentication Enabled and all other authentication methods disabled.

Any help much appreciated.

Problem solved.  I reset all the settings in IE8 using Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset and checked the option to clear all personal stuff.  I also restarted IIS and AGS on the AGS machine.  After that the Web Adapter and domain authentication stuff started working.
