I have been sent a map cache, complete, from the arcgisserver directory, and also the original mxd (10.0) used to create the service.
My question is, can I use the cache and mxd to recreate the map service, without having the underlying data? If yes, how would I go about doing this in 10.1?
When you publish a map service the mxd has to be analyzed first. This would fail because the layers are not visible by the mxd; so my expectation is that you cannot create the service without the underlying data.
